Rooting After Updating/Smartphone Cases?

Is there going to be a new way to root after having applied the update? The update I believe is to improve cell reception and so I really don't feel like rooting until I can use that update ya know?

Also, is there any particular reason using a case for your smartphone is a good idea? I have a plastic molded case that clips together around the phone and it doesn't really seem like it'll protect it from much ya know? And it tends to get a lot of dirt around the edges where the case meets the face of the phone.

interdepth has updated his one click root it works on updated phones.
The update should help with various issues I have the updated modem, for cell reception through interdepth and shabby which I am glad they made available.
The case is to protect the phone from scratches and nicks and hopefully from the infrequent drops least I hope they are infrequent.
Screen protector is to keep the glass scratch free. The snap together case may work, they also have the jelly type that is what i have.

As Optimus mentioned about the screen protector, I highly recommend you get one asap. Especially if you carry your phone in you pocket and you tend to have loose change or keys. For the cases, I prefer the silicone(jelly) over the plastic ones. They're more grip friendly which reduces drops. The downside to these silicone cases is that they do attract dust and dirt but it doesn't bother me much.
 
The latest rom for the prevail (shabbymod 0.8) incorporates the updates in cell reception etc. Its not as if you will not get future updates. You just wont get updates as soon as they come out. The update came out and then after about a month (I'm guessing here, could've been less) the custom rom came out with the updates incorporated.

So if you root you're just behind the stock rom for updates. But you're way ahead in features for the phone. Wireless tether anyone!?

As for the case. I have a thermoplastic polyurethane case that I bought from ebay. Cheap and very durable. Its like the gel cases but made of a tougher plastic. Keeps the phone from getting too banged up. I mean if I dropped it from the second floor I doubt anything would keep it from damage... but for small drops and nicks it works wonders.

Actually last i read the modem update ( if that is what you mean as far as reception) is not included in the shabbymod .. that is a separate update
 
so the updated modem does not come with shabbymod, where can I get it then? Or do I just update my phone and then apply root and shabbymod?
