Hope he's good :p

Oh and would def donate

its not so much for the os version as it is for the phone hardware, as the optimus isnt actually that far off in terms of.. uh... cpu arch... even still this is not going to be an easy task

every bit of help is most welcome :)

well i just tryed a couple things with custom kernals and odin 1.7 what is this i hear about the 3.0 ota update. Galaxy Prevail Root Updated To 3.0 Fixes Root For Those Who Updated! ACSyndicate

all u need to is find a kernal to work with the phone because all these other galaxy users updating to 2.2 froyo use odin and a special kernal to allow custom recovery im going to try to find one that will work. i have 3 of these phone so i can afford to mess one up in need be ;)

no no no no no. seriously no

the kernel is the software that allows the phone to boot, you have the os which is all the programs and shiney things you see when it turns on, whereas the kernel is doing all the heavy lifting behind the scenes, your camera turn on? thats the kernel. you shut your screen on and off? tahts the kernel. just like windows each kernel is custom tailored to a phone with drivers. the only way your going to get the phone to boot, is by using a kernel from this phone.. whether you download source from samsung and compile it yourself, or take the stock one and reflash it. 97% of samsung android phones use something called a zimage for their kernels, yalls phone uses boot.img its a completly different format. it would be akin to taking a mac os x program and trying to run it on windows, stuff just doesnt play nice like that.

i applaud you for testing with odin, but be wary as it can seriously mess up your phone.. however if you want to be really helpful in this, download the source for the prevail and compile it.. get it to flash.. once you know stock kernel flashes we can then edit source and proceed to do little things, and work on recovery (as recovery is nothing more then a kernel with recovery mod enabled/files thrown in).

do not be decieved, the fact that this carriers a Samsung galaxy s "name" means nothing.. yalls phone is NOTHING like the true samsung galaxy s phones.

to recap, awesome that your willing to test and have been. the 3.0 update blah blah blah is KMS 3.0, iirc all you guys have here is 2.0.

also i would not mind helping to get the stock kernals to flash direct me in the right direction i ran up on the source codes for it last night dunno if that will help. i have them downloaded would i just flash with odin? also have you have any problems with .9 rom and radio issiues seems like my phone is acting funny

yes joneidy was very helpful in getting the optimus m on 2.2.1 rooted, the long way before the one click was available. He also got a rough custom recovery for it. I am very familiar with his work.
