Goodbye Windows Phone 7

UBRocked

VZW Nexus Please!!!
Just a fun story...

Well, I'm officially cleared of Windows Mobile devices. I had purchased the HTC trophy because I'm the guy in my company that everyone comes to for phone support. I needed to be familiar with the new WP7 platform to be able to support our field people in the event that some of these people who have always used the Windows Mobile OS.

Turns out that the very people that should be attracted to WP7 for its simplicity...just aren't interested. This may be for a variety of reasons but the main one was most likely the inability to tether the internet connection to their laptops with the HTC trophy (even with the $15/mo charge).

So now all of our field guys as well as myself will be rocking the Droid3. :)

And...I think I'm now officially an Android fanboy. Every day I will bring my tablet, and 2 phones (one personal, one business) to work...all rocking Android.

Bye bye WP7...rest in peace! :D

Ill bring the booze! :D

While I didn't miss the 256 MB of RAM that he original D had, I did love that phone and hated giving it up. I couldn't do the D2...or the D2G that launched a month later but this phone is enticing and offers the exchange integration that we need. As its a work phone, I won't be modding it like my other devices but ill most likely do enough to get rid of the blockbuster app ;) (hint Verizon...we don't want it!!!).

Ahhh...the good old days...I'm gonna get CRP's ass in here too :D ...and then we need johnlgalt to come here for tech support until 3am!

What are you getting for battery life? I love the look, feel, and functionality of the phone but the high idle time is killing my battery.

Don't know yet...will have it tomorrow. What processes are chewing up your battery? Just cell standby?

That and display of course. Idle time is consistently over 40%. Unfortunately, Gingerbread has a lack of tools to tell you what is keeping the phone awake...

CRP and johngalt...haha. That's right. All yall helped me like crazy with my D1. You guys can do a ROM review for us.

Anyways, I heard something about a Citrix app on the D3. Did I hear that right? If I did, what's the scoop on that. I use Citrix for my work to log on to my desktop from home, is that what it does?

Did you try spare parts? That generally gives you more info about the battle usage.

I don't use Citrix at work so I'm not sure.

And no...I had my fill of ROM reviews. I just unpinned those threads a little while ago. :D

Spare parts doesn't work with the history option, it just force closes. I think they took the option out of the OS. :( it's not in the *#*#info#*#* menu anymore either. I notic3d it on my X too. The biggest drain on this phone is the cell radio even though I usually have 3 or more bars and the idle use.

The idle use could be an app, but I have no idea what the cell standby could be.

That sux. I thought that was only a honeycomb issue as my tablet does the same thing.

Anything beyond Froyo I believe... it makes finding rogue apps nearly impossible.

Hmmm...My rooted Thunderbolt with 2.3.4 running on it works. But yeah, it's a pain not having it as I use it on my bolt frequently.

Sooo..... Whatcha gonna do with your Trophy?

I gotta send it back to VZW. For business customers, you have different return policies based on your contract. We get 30 days to try out new devices and don't have to pay a restocking fee (but we can still only swap devices once).
