Gingerbread fix for screen?

I love the X2's Display! Like others have mentioned, no one needs to be reading or watching anything 2 to 3 the inches from their face... realistic viewing looks great and better than the other displays outside in sunlight by a mile!

lol, say whatever you want.

No, you do not need to hold it up to your face to see the pixelation. Open any picture in your gallery. Maybe you are all coming from phones with worse screens, but just compare the same pic on two different phones and you will see the difference.

And if the pixelation doesn't get to you, the gradiation has to. Otherwise, I just don't know what to say. If you like pics that look like they were made on MS Paint, more power to you.

And it's not just me. I went to the Verizon store to confirm on 2 different X2s.

Can you live with it? Yes. Should you have to? No. And I didn't choose this phone. It was a replacement from verizon.

You go on any forum (thunderbolt, X1, GSII) and no matter what, some owners just can't stand when someone points out a flaw on the phone. Luckily for prospective buyers me and a few others are willing to point out what is obvious to any rational person.

If it doesn't bother you, fine. Stop coming into threads wherein people are asking legitimate questions and responding by defending something that needs no defense in the first place. You like the screen? Keep it to yourself. How does it help OP if he already admits to having a problem with it, along with many others including myself?

What happens if enough people complain? Maybe Moto releases an updated screen or gives us warranty replacements. Everyone wins. What happens if people stay in denial? Some people are still in denial while others are stuck with what is clearly undesirable (despite some people willing to put up with it or deny its problem).

Defending the screen has nothing to do with OP's question.

Well, hello kettle.

Well, hello kettle.

look at my first post. You are ridiculous. I was one of the few that tried to help OP while a few came in here, or go in other threads about the screen and vigorously defend it for no reason whatsoever.

You like it, good. That is your OPINION. It is a FACT that the screen is more pixelated than the X1 and many other phones, and that there is a gradiation problem.

How did you come by your x2? Did you upgrade to it or forced replacement?

I was given the option to upgrade to dx2 after 3 dx1 refurbs. I almost went back to dx1 but hear gb is coming. Hopefully the screen will be fixed with the update via contrast adjustment or something along those lines. Dx1 had a beautiful screen btw. Sorry, had to say that again. lol.

You are ridiculous. I never said my opinion on it one way or another. It just seems odd to rant about the screen then say, 'but we shouldn't argue this, it doesn't answer the question.' You're adding fire to the flame while simultaneously saying that the conversation should end.

Look at the battery meter in the top right and tell me the screen is fine. That is the most filled in the screen can attempt, those holes are not intentional.

And no a software update can not fix this is because this is how the technology used in this display works. Software can't change a screen from pentile to something else.

I got in my car and I heard the engine when I started it up. Should I hear the engine? I don't think I should. It sounded healthy, but I thought it should be quieter. It wasn't loud. I just don't think I should hear it. lol.

Another:

The flashlight isn't very bright. Its daytime now and I don't see much light coming from the flashlight. Sure, it will look brighter when its dark but I think I should see more light from the flashlight in the daytime. Also, the light isn't really blue. Its orange....kind of.

There is no excuse for hearing your car run or not seeing your flashlight in the daytime.

One too many hits of acid for this dude. Man! You know you said all that out loud right? No wonder you can't tell the screen is shitty. Lol.

Yea, I hate that battery meter. Perfect example of how bad the screen is.
I thought of something else too..I don't think the colors are true. Reds should be redder and greens greener. Blues are pretty good. Yellow are the worst.

Btw....that guy that wrote the review can't focus a camera.

And finally, NO NO NO....a software update will not cure your dislike of the screen.

If you listen for a ping in your engine, you'll find it. If you go to the doctor complaining, they will find something wrong. There is nothing wrong with the screen on the DX2.

I think this is a very valid point. If you don't like the screen, no amount of software tweaks is likely to cause you to all of a sudden change your mind. It may very well be a personal preference, perception sort of deal. I happen to like the screen. If I compare to X,Y, or Z I can certainly find ones I like better. If I compare my Ford Fiesta to a Porsche 911 the 911 will win each time! :)

But for my purposes I have been satisfied with the screen on the X2. I do have other issues with the phone, that I am fairly confident a software update will resolve. Over all I like the X2. I like it as well as I liked my Incredible, maybe even a little better. (except when it does a random shut down!)
