Four foot six inches? Aw, man! How am I going to fit THAT in my pocket?
And of course these ads all look shopped - they are. Even final official ads are shopped - hate to break it to ya but that's how they're made. So the questions is, is it a final draft? Is the info accurate?
It would be hard to tell if it were "fake" (i.e. not from Motorola/Verizon/BestBuy at all, even as a rough draft)
I take the surfacing of even possible ads as a good sign of moving toward real ads and release. To me, they're all "fake" until they're real.
ETA, that metal edge looks sweet.

Ugh... I am seeing one thing I don't like: that DX-ish hump for Motorola's ridiculously poor camera that despite a mechanical shutter takes quite noticeably worse photos in ALL conditions than HTC's and Samsung's new cameras (and Apple's old camera) that continue to lack physical shutters. If the Amazon leaks are legit this looks quite a bit like a DX3 4G edition with a signature silver ring. Might still be a wonderful phone but one of the main gripes I continue to have about the DX is the form factor.

One thing it doesnt have like the DX's are physical buttons at the bottom. I was liking the buttons on the DX better than capacitive ones.
Now I may have to re adjust to capacitive buttons... I still use my Droid 1 alot so it wont be so bad.
And with the phone being thicker the hump looks like it wont be so pronounced as the DX's.

I like the camera hump. It helps me to orient the phone. One of my biggest gripes about my Fascinate is not being able to quickly find "up" until I look at the phone.
I am tired of these hard to push physical buttons. Other than being able to wake the screen with the home button they are annoying to use in quiet situations.

This phone looks great I am glad they changed it from the original design this looks much better IMO.

Ughhhhh....They should have rolled with the original design, or something similar to the Photon. This looks like yet another Droid X refresh...not a fan of that hump near the camera, or the metal bezel surrounding the phone. Dammm Vzw, can't you pick nicely designed phones any more!

Design looks pretty sturdy and tough. I guess some folks will like it. But it looks too bulky to me and wonder how thick that camera bump part is.

Looks to be the same hump that the Droid X has...As far as Bulk goes, probably a little thicker then the X because of the 4G radio on board.

I owned the Fascinate and the DX at the same time for a while. I much prefer the capacitive buttons on the Fascinate to the loud, stiff, clicky ones on the DX. Sometimes, I like to use my phone when I can't sleep, like after a particularly intensive day at work. My mindless phone games really help me unwind and relax enough to fall asleep. With the DX, my wife was constantly bugged by those physical buttons, regardless of how soft I tried to click. I can even turn the vibration off on the Fascinate, so those touch buttons truly are 100% silent. I won't get a smartphone I can't use silently so as not to disturb the wife at night.
As a Fascinate owner, I do have to flip the phone from time to time. It's not as big a deal as having silent buttons, but it's definitely a noticeable gripe. I never really thought about it until it happened a few times. It continues to happen. Now I just try to pocket it the same direction every time.

This new design does look much better than the original - and it looks much less bulky. When Samsung released the thinner than an iPhone SGSII, I know one of the complaints against the Bionic was its absolutely horrendous bulk. It also looked a bit on the plain side. From the front, this new Bionic looks much sharper, sleeker, and more attractive, but I completely agree with Sean on the hump. It's a stupid worthless mechanical shutter camera anyways, unless we somehow miraculously get an upgraded camera. The thicker hump to accommodate that mechanical shutter is stupid. It's something that should've died with the DX series, but they continue to bring back to haunt us. Get a real camera, please. This is supposed to be a "superphone." Apple, Samsung, and even HTC are nailing this feature right, and they will win customers for their camera quality because of the user having one less device to pocket for casual picture taking. One can hope for the 2nd gen LTE chip though, right??

Hate to say this, but the 4'6" thing was to shows mistakenly taking the 5 out of 12 instead of 10, but I digress.
I'll take the Best Buy one as real, the Amazon as real, and the Android Central leak site as a pre-production.

2. The hump helps when holding the phone while talking. (helps to not press a button on the side of the phone by accident when talking on the phone)

For example, when my phone is in the desk doc, I have to hold the back of the phone when I want to "Press" a button. If they were capacitive buttons, I could just touch them.
Now about the size.... I'm hoping it's 4.3in. That's the same as my "X" and I like it's size.
Don't care what the weight is, I'm 6 foot / 245lbs, I can handle it.

My upgrade was due last April. School is starting, and my current phone is on it's last limbs - I have to restart it many times a day.
My dad won't want to change phones until the contract is up again, so I'll be stuck with what I have, unless we transfer an upgrade to another line...

HTC isnt the best in the camera dept either but supposedly the photon takes better pics than the droid 3 and since people are saying the bionic and photon are similar maybe it will have the same camera as the photon? I think moto upgraded the camera, more ram, and lte to give it a leg up on the droid 3 since this and the d3 look similar.

I would hope they soon bring those 2nd Gen chips to new devices. Praying the SG2 has one on board, and not just a 3G only phone.

They traditionally haven't been that great, but the Sensation literally caught up to Samsung's SGSII camera, as far as photo quality goes. It made a huge stride in performance compared to what phones like the Incredible had. I did some comparisons, and HTC's new camera is great, and on par with what Samsung and Apple bring to the table. It's not quite as fantastic with video, but still a lot closer than HTC has ever been. If Motorola doesn't seriously upgrade the camera for the Bionic, this will continue to be one aspect Motorola is far behind the competition in.

I never thought about it that way, but you're right. Being able to more easily orientate the phone would be nice. Not that it's ever been a prob, but it def happens a few times a day. But then I won't be able to show off my neat phone-flip trick. lol
Whats wild is the Photon takes some decent pictures. Its hard to imagine they're both made by the same company.

Not until the 28th for Premiere customers and the 31st for everyone else. Someone on here bought a developer or pre-production one off on someone selling it on the classifieds. He did some reviews and took some great pictures with it. Sadly Motorola contacted him and wants the phone back.
Since then, the thread has been locked to comply with Motorola's wishes since they did not intend for that phone to be out.

The Droid X has been my favorite phone I have ever owned, and that is saying a lot to me since I have owned quite a bit of phones, especially over the past couple of years.
I personally would have preferred it without the hump, but you get used to it and then it actually isn't that bad. Like others have said, the Bionic looks a lot more polished hardware wise. Sadly I am not on Verizon anymore and won't be able to get it, but man it looks like a beast of a phone.
I will be picking up the Photon for Sprint next week and I will let you guys know what I think of it so you have something to compare to the Bionic, should be as close to the Bionic as you will get until it is actually released.
