Root Bootanimation HELP.[No Root]

FreshSwag

Lurker
I have 3 questions
1st Q: When you download the Android SDK do you install(cuz its a lot) like everything or what do i do?
2nd Q: The adb isnt in the tools folder, where is it?
3rd Q: Can someone please put a tutorial of how to put a bootanimation
on windows without rooting as of 2011...with the now android SDK.

P.S. NO ROOT:)

My advise is to use gingerbreak to root then use ROMTools to push the boot animation to the phone. Both are quick and simple (I heard gingerbreak was anyways).

The boot animation is located in the system files. To be able to change it you will have to root your phone first. Sorry, no way around it.

Yogi-4 should be coming out with a guide for the use of ROMTools. One of the topics that might be discussed is changing the boot animation. If you want to establish ADB in you system path there is a "Nuub" proof way that can be found here http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-...om-tools-help-boot-animation.html#post2893454 Also ADB can be found in the SDK/platform-tools folder. If you follow the directions it will save you any where from an hour to a days time in trying to establish ADB the hard way. Any more Questions on changing boot animations keep putting in this post. EDIT: you don't have to be rooted to use ROMTools,it will establish a temporary root that will go away at the next reboot.

My advise is to read. Know what your doing before you do it. What exactly are you wanting to do?? Are you wanting to just change the boot animation or would you like to delve into it more by installing a faster and better than stock ROM??
I just posted a 'How to' on how to install a new ROM. You'll be fine but you do need to do some research and read in these forums on what your doing to your phone. Just some friendly advise :)

Make sure your are rooted and have rom tools on your computer.

If you want to change your boot animation all you have to do is find the one you want. Rename it ‘bootanimation’ and put it in the bootanimation folder in ROMTools. Then press option 7 in ROMTools and of course hit “any key” and it will flash it over to your phone. That’s it!!

It's all right. Every one of us in this thread were, and to some degree still are "Nuubs". You came to the right place for help. None of us want you to "Brick your phone" and will help you to accomplish whatever you might need weather it is just changing your boot animation to full ROOT,or custom recovery and custom Kernel or ROM. We all know what it's like to be right were you are and can help you from that very perspective. I won't be able to help until latter this evening. I have to study God's word and get ready for my congregation meeting tonight. The other members will be willing, and able to help you to get your phone were you want it with the least amount of time and headache. Got to go
