Anybody check NFC working or not working?
there's already a rooted 2.3.5 zip in the "all things rot section" that's easy to flashCan someone explain how to root 2.3.5? I was rooted on 2.3.4 so I'm wondering if it's the same process.
how did you check these numbers? My signal strength went from low 100/high 90 dbm's to 65 dbm so it's not just showing more bars
No the NFC is built into the phone but the back case has the anntenna built into it.is the NFC built into the back of the case? So a custom back case would kill the NFC?

Extended batteries do kill NFC capabilities according to the battery manufacturers.
The issue isn't specifically the extended batteries themselves, but the replacement battery covers that are missing the components for NFC.
Can anyone 100% confirm that the update kills all tethering and hotspots functionality??? If so has anyone called Sprint to see if you can pay for it to be restored (monthly fees of course). If that is the case this is not even a Nexus device anylonger...
You can use usb tethering or HOTSPOT by paying for it. Call Sprint and add it.I don't want the update if it kills the hotspot feature
Can you still use USB tethering?
are you rooted? So I just downloaded GRJ90. Still getting the "white bars" problem with no data transmission sometimes. Also, anyone else think that wifi reception is even worse now?
You can see the signal strength if you go to settings... about phone... status, and then look for signal strength.
on GRJ22 I am getting -96dBM 0 asu for signal strength ... is that good?
are you rooted?
That is a pretty weak signal, -65 to -70 would be a pretty strong signal.
Hey everyone. I'm kind of new (very new actually). Please excuse this being my first post... I've never had an android phone before, and bought the Nexus S 4g yesterday, (because I knew this update would be coming out). Now I'm having issues installing and thought I'd ask here, since y'all obviously are having better success than I. I try to follow the instructions (found various places around the web), but when I boot into restore (the step where the orange triangle is shown, if I'm not describing it correctly) there is an orange triangle with an exclamation point, and a green android guy, but there are no options, and nothing to select. I then have to pull the battery and restart the phone.
I can only imagine that I'm saving the "update.zip" in the wrong place. I've tried this a couple of times... the first thing I tried was to plug the phone into my PC by USB. The computer then assigns the phone to drive "F:" so I tried copying the update.zip directly to the root of the drive so it would be "F:\update.zip." but that didn't work.
Then I looked in the manual from google, and it says that depending on the phone, it will save the file either in the sd card, or the phone's USB storage. So I tried saving the file where the phone had been saving downloads "F:\download\update.zip." That didn't work either, had to restart the phone.
Anyway, looking at my "F:" drive (the phone) in windows explorer, there are six folders: .android secure, Android, DCIM, download, LOST.DIR and media. Which one is the "SD root? Can anyone point me to some more detailed instructions?

manually update and signal strength is still -96 dBm ... same as it was before.
is there anything else good with this grj90 update?
