extended battery in EVO 3D?

Just remember that there's nothing guaranteeing that the advertised capacity on the label is the actual capacity of the battery.

I bought batteries of Ebay, and after I pulled sticker of the back of it, it says 1000mah instead 1800mah.

Exactly.

And like another said, just because they are more reputable -- like Seidio or whoever, doesn't make too much of a difference...

looking on ebay and amazon, the batteries there vary in price by big margins. so i noticed the cheaper batteries have a spec at 1800mah, and the evo 3d battery is 1730mah. does this matter?

i am thinking about buying this listing here: 3x 1800MAH HIGH QUA BATTERY+DOCK Charger For HTC EVO 3D | eBay

but i just dont understand why the big price difference between that and HTC EVO 3D Original OEM 1730mAh Battery - NEW | eBay for the oem model...even on amazon the prices have a big gap.

is 1800mah safe to buy and use on the phone? i know aftermarket stuff is not recommended, just courious.

Who says after market is not recommended?

These batteries are cheaper because they are easy to find, and they could very well be less than an 1800MAH battery... the 1730mah is a higher capacity battery than oem, and could be a higher quality cell... Buying from Amazon, eBay, and all these other Chinese places directly, is always a gamble. You can pretty much bet right now, the cheap stuff is crap... However, you may find top notch product... it's a hit or miss

best you can do is just give it a try... especially since the phone is so new, most of the manufacturers are developing these batteries off pure specifications given by the phone manufacturers.

As found in the EVO 4G battery threads, the Ebay chinese batteries always overstate their capacity. Just like Seidio but China only charges U$5 per battery vice U$50.
Running basic capacity cycles with my LiPo charger, the 1750, 1800, 1850 and 2000mah chinese batteries are all the same generic 1750 cell.

BUT....

The OEM HTC battery for the EVO 3D is different since it charges up to 4.456V vice the generics which charge only to 4.19V. So the OEM, while only 1730mah, may outlast the china batteries.

I also found the first 3600mah+ ext cells on Ebay for around U$15. Most likely a generic 3400mah. Have not tested one yet and wont because I like my skinny 3d.

Considering what we deduced in the "Battery temp/charge" thread, I don't think there is really a point of upgrading the battery, unless you're going the 3500+ mAH Seidio battery route. The OEM battery in the Evo 3D is definitely different (seemingly newer) tech than the standard Li-Ion battery. Other batteries may have higher capacity, but may not have the longevity. And, like discussed before, the capacity on the label may not be the actual capacity.

Let us know how it works. I'd be interested to hear how much more life you get out of the phone with it. I currently get almost 8 hours with moderate use.

Different people have different needs. Heavy use with 3G radio will not net you 15 hours. The first two weeks I owned the phone, I was lucky to get 8 hours out of the battery. Since the new-ness has worn off, I have slowly climbed to 16-20 hours.

Maybe it's also worthwhile to not have to charge your battery every day. Maybe they travel a lot and can't charge whenever they want to.

If you were to get 8 hours from use of your current 1740 battery. You would get 8.74 hours from a 1900 mAh cell. Basically an extra 45 minutes.

This assumes two things: Your battery holds the advertised 1740 mAh that HTC claims. The extended battery you get holds the 1900 mAh it claims. Manufacturing process vary and the numbers should be close. But that gives you a rough estimate.
