Root 2.3 = Updated Hboot?

Hey guys, so, I might want to root + flash my Desire but want to get the official 2.3 Update first. Just wondering, will the update upgrade my Hboot so I can't root and flash rom's on it anymore?

Also, if I De-brand and put the stock firmware on my Desire, will I be able to update to 2.3 as soon as it's released?

Thanks :)

Flashing roms once rooted will wipe any update that you install!

we will only know about the hboot once released. No one knows what is coming Im afraid.

If you debrand, historically this means that you got ota's quicker yes. However, the last update on 2.2 (2.29.405.5) didnt work ota for debranded devices so again, we just dont know... Sorry that this is not the answer you hoped for but its the best I have.

There's a thread on XDA where people say they've found a development desire gb ruu, and that has hboot 1.02.

Of course if it's development then the final release may differ. The rest of it looks like rather old news, and stuff that's already been leaked.

Well, the Desire update is sorta out the window... I guess I'll be rooting then :p

Just a couple more questions before I do, If I Root + Flash a Rom, How would I go about getting it back to official firmware?

Also, what's one of the best Rom's that has Sense 2.1 plus good battery life?

EDIT: Do I NEED A Goldcard to go back to original firmware from a flashed ROM?

Thanks for all the help guys :)

First find a RUU that would restore your official firmware, so that you can go back to un-root.

You need a Goldcard only if your firmware is carrier branded.

It is carrier branded, but someone said in another thread as long as I have the same as my original build number I can just use that RUU?

Providing it works and you never need to use any other RUU for recovery purposes. Make the card.
