Help How to get android market update

If you already have a custom recovery installed then you can try the Harmonia 1.3 ROM which has an update patch that has the new market.(I personally think the new market is a step backward not foreward). If you don't,go here http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-...el-rom-change-boot-animation.html#post3000366. You can install a custom recovery, and because of that, make a backup of your system(we all make mistakes sometime)and install a custom ROM. You can do all this with out having to permanently ROOT your phone.

I'm just using a stock phone only thing I changed was the launcher, not rooted, no custom roms or anything.

Would launcher pro block a market update?

Apparently I'm stuck on market version 2.3.6

Is there an update button in the market?

I accidentally backed out of the update, but it did it when i went to buy an app. You might try that if there isn't an update option in there.

I wish. My fone is not rooted; it updated itself and I want it to go away, 'cause it sucks. I've done "uninstall updates" which doesn't stick. It updates itself again every time I go back to the market. And I had it set to notify me of updates, but not do any automatically. Guess that doesn't apply to the market.

You can download it here without having to root the phone. Just download the apk file, attach it to an email, send it to your phone's email address, open the email via your phone's e-mail client, and download the app..

I think you might have forgot to post the link to the .apk file. OOps

I've seen quite a few apk's that are supposingly the update.
Are they safe, would I get future updates/bug fixes from google, if I downloaded the apk?

No. I'm also using LPP (Launcher Pro Plus).

I got the update a few days ago. Woke up one morning and it was updated.

Yeppers, same here. Updated my ROM and went to market to download Titanium Backup and my Market was already updated. I don't like it. Unless I'm missing something... I like to see for myself if there are updates to my apps, "My Apps" is no longer there unless there is an update for one.

Not sure I follow you, unless I'm totally misunderstanding hehe. "My Apps" is there on mine, whether I have an app that needs to be updated or not. It was there earlier when I checked and MissedIt offered an update, and it is still there now after updating MissedIt.

I've updated to the new market using a different ROM and I thought it was a step backward. It seemed like instead of all the easy categories they have in the old version I have now, they just mixed all the aps up. I had to go through a whole lot of apps that had no relation to the task I was trying to perform. Very time consuming and frustrating. But don't take my word for it,see for your self, you might find it wasn't worth any of the effort you put into finding it. But what doesn't work for me may work for someone else ,and vice a versa.

I am disliking the new market as well. It is trying to update my Amazon apps and failing. When it does update an app from the Android Market successfully it still shows as having an update available.

I haven't done any browsing on the market yet, so that aspect I have no opinion.

I have the new version and can't see any of my download apps within "My Apps." I can only see Youtube and Google Maps. If I want to update or even check for updates I have to search the application individually.

My apps are all there, and the ones needing updates are at the top. When I update them I have to back out of the market to get them to shut up, though. They continue to say downloading forever if I don't.

The new Market looks too...busy for my taste.

I still didn't get it. So I'm going to try to download the apk..
(*I'm not the most patient*)

I saw the market on my friends phone and it looks good to me. I like the busy look, I hate empty space.

Edit: I'm not seeing anything where the movies tab should be. I am getting a big black blank spot in that area.

Working as intended or bugged?

Either way I guess I uninstalled it and went back to 2.3.6

I went to the market(what I thought would be usual market),and found they had stuck me with the new market. If you want the new market just have patience, you will get it weather you want it or not.

Not to mention the new market now takes up at least 7mb! I uninstalled the updates and switched to the website version instead. So I gained 7mb on my phone memory. With the website version I can pinch to zoom on 'sample previews' which I like better than the market app.
