Root ROM CHOICE HELP(Heavy Usage)

Hi... I was wondering if someone could give me a COMPLETE setup list including Rom, Kernel, setcpu settings, task managers, etc. for me to get the BEST battery life/ performace in their opinion for my father... i have a lot of roms that i use and my settings on setcpu for me which are FANTASTIC for me and i get 2-3 days of battery life but i was trying to get him into it but he uses his phone differently then me so it didnt work as well and he was charging it every couple of hours and he was having bluetooth performance issues... anyway to give you some details:

1-He is ALWAYS on his phone.. he is a financial secretary for a union and is on his phone for hours at a time

2-He doesnt play games so im sure doesnt need high fps or things like that

3-He always listens to his music over bluetooth on his way home from work and his phone cant lag too much in screen off otherwise when he gets a phone call while on bluetooth it gets screwy (I had him on 245 screen off w/ setcpu and it caused this)

anyway he is a VERY heavy user and if anyone uses their phone similarly and has some suggestions that would be fantastic.. let me know what you got and if you have any other questions for me thanks!

by far the best for me was cm7/tiamat sbc kernel. setcpu 1120 with smartass governor. i was getting 18-35 hrs of moderate to heavy usage.

ok what about setcpu profiles? anything there? and also... do you have a suggestion for sense roms because i dont think he wants it to look TOO much different... but I will try that setup first so i can see if i can set it up for him.

That's a similar setup to mine:

Decks 1.3b (CM 7 based)
Tiamat 4.06 kernel
Setcpu 1152/smartass governor Screen off/384 max

Getting 20 - 32 hours moderate to heavy usage
35-50 hours light usage

I doubt I use my phone as much as he does daily.

with cm7 it has its own setcpu built in. you can't do any screen off profiles but it uses a smartass govorner that has screen off built in.

as far as sense goes then try either koni's elite iii or mikforyo4.61. and as far as sense kernels try 4.3.1 netarchy toastmod more havs sbc (start with more havs then less havs, and then finally no havs depending how battery life is)

so you dont have to set the governor on setcpu at all? and im running koni's elite III on mine with no-havs suv netarchy right now... still havent gone sbc but thanks again for the koni's suggestion.. great smooth rom.... but im still not sure that i want him to try that one yet... i dont want to pitch him another rom and him not like it because he is impatient and if i set it up again and he doesnt like it... then he's done with me messing with his phone and i cant have that! i want him to see the benefits that i have been talking about himself u know? lol

That's a similar setup to mine:

Tiamat 4.06 kernel

yeah not many people use the phone as much as he does thats why tis hard to 'shop' for him lol i mean he is literally on the phone 6+ hours a day! its insane but i dont think im going to overclock it because he doesnt want that much of a performance increase u know? and oc'ing will drain battery quicker so i guess since you and ocnbrze both swing for AOSP im gonna set that up on my phone tomorrow and give it some testing....

no you do not have to set a governor. the default for setcpu and most kernels is ondemand anyways. smartass is the one that worked the best for me.

if you want a different rom then try mikforyo 4.61. i love mik roms they are always the fastest for me. kings unleashed was not bad as well.

ok i was wondering because smartass isnt a setting in my version of setcpu but hmm.. i guess i have a few roms im going to try out tomorrow.... well thank y'all for the replies... maybe i'll get even more tomorrow when people wake up! lol we'll see

what kernel do you have? the kernel needs to be able to support that governor. the freedom kernel with the latest update just added a smartass governor.

Actually, I use sense roms too. I like the sense widgets but I found some nice alternatives so I'm on Decks a little more than Mik3D.

what kernel do you have? the kernel needs to be able to support that governor. the freedom kernel with the latest update just added a smartass governor.

i dont like Mik3D... seems sluggish to me... ill have to find a way to make an AOSP rom look as sense as possible lol
