Root not sure if rooted

If you have S-off, then you are rooted. Did you install a custom recovery?
If not, then try one of the PC36IMG.zip files located here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/259446-clockwork-amon-ra-pc36img-files.html

If you just need to update SU, there should be an option for that. SETTINGS > Last option, (SU binary: tap to check for updates)

no i don'tnot sure if superuser is working,it say's Rev CWM v4.0.1.4 e:can't open /sdcard/update,zip no such file or directory installation aborted

did you flash the su file in recovery? if not you need to. its in the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/395962-guide-rooting-gingerbread-revolutionary.html sticky.
