Root Backing Up With Titanium Backup

I downloaded titanium backup but i don't know how to use it i want to backup my apps and the data for them, like all the levels i've passed in angry birds i don't want to have to start all over. and also how would i save my text messages. i want to use a new rom but i dont want to lose my apps and stuff.

How do i backup my apps and the data for them, i.e. all the levels i've passed in angry birds i don't want to have to start all over. and also how would i save my text messages. i want to use a new rom but i dont want to lose my apps and stuff

go into titanium backup and if you purchased the pro key in addition you can do a batch backup and restore. select menu and select batch run a batch "backup of all user apps"and when you want to restore select "restore all apps with data".

if you did not purchase the pro key then you can select the backup/restore tab at the top and backup and restore individually. whatever you do do not backup and restore system apps and its data. they will have pieces of the old rom and create issues with the new rom.

Go to TB, tap backup/restore at the top, tap menu, batch, then backup all user apps.

I use SMS backup to save my text messages. Works very well

so if i just choose backup all user apps will it still save the data for the app, and if it doesnt how would i do that without it interfering with the new rom?

It will save the app and data. When you restore it, you will have the choice of app, app+data, or data only

yes it will. and when you restore make sure to select app+data.
edit:also make a nandroid backup before flashing will also save you data as well.

I want to try the gingerbread-evo-deck rom but i still want the calendar and the htc clock widgets would i be able to somehow back that up and put it on my new rom?

no those are sense widgets while deck's rom is an aosp rom. however, launcher pro and beautiful widgets have some similar widgets to the sense widgets.

I also want sprint tv but the rom i currently have doesnt have that would you know how i could get it?

you can always make a nandroid backup and flash a stock rom and use tb to save that app then restore the nandroid backup and us tb again to restore it.
