Droid HD already? Looks like a thinner, nicer Bionic.

seriously doubt this is LTE and Dual core phone.

I agree with this person ^

I cannot imagine them working for 8-9 months on a new LTE chip just to keep the bionic super bulky when they could have made it much thinner...

Seems like a stupid move and Motorola is rarely stupid.

I highly doubt this phone is 4G capable. Yes, LTE uses sim, but I haven't seen a side-loaded 4G sim card slot in any phone. You don't need to switch it out like you would a normal sim card; that's why it's been by the battery in all 4G phones.

Also, the thinness of the design just screams 3G. Are we to expect that after spending almost a year trying to perfect their 4G chipset to play nice with the processor, Moto all of a sudden created this ultra-thin 4G chip set before the Bionic was even released? Highly doubtful.

I'm starting to think that the US version of the SGSII is not going to be 4G, and Moto will release this ultra-thin 3G Droid HD to compete directly with the SGSII and iPhone 5 on similar price points as those 2 phones, probably at $199.

The Bionic will still be the only dual core 4G phone, most likely at $299.

Just my two cents, but it makes sense if you think about it.

That is unless this device has the new micro sim chip that is supposed to replace the current form factor for sim chips.

Makes me dislike VZW more for taking away our 1 year contract option. :(
I think you can upgrade your phone at around 1 year with a $20 early upgrade charge
and at around 1.5 year you can upgrade for free.

I'm not 100% sure on those dates but I believe it's something close to that.

If you guys are waiting for the Bionic, get the bionic. You won't be disappointed.

This is the phone whose name should not be spoken of. Don't fall prey to rumor mill. Lots of misinformation out there.

2 problems with this thread:

1) It assumes thinner is better

2) It assumes that this is actually a nicer look for a phone.

pffft.

  1. Yeah, I don't get the fetishizing of thinner electronics.
  2. The HD looks nicer to me, but that means diddly to my buying decision after the specs.

I like some thickness for my phones, makes me feel like I actually bought something worthwhile.

I also like some heaviness to my phone.

This is the part I don't get. Some, who are much more in tune with mobile devices than I, often use the word sexy to describe phones. I get the importance of appearance with, say, cars. But a phone not so much. I think they all look similar anyhow. At least enough so that I am way more apt to buy a phone with good tech than cosmetics. However, I do care about display quality.

I'll be in the store testing Bionic's display first and foremost. I don't really care how thick it is.

I think the new Dodge Challenger is sexy as hell, but at almost 4200lbs it's more boat than car. Esthetics sells, isn't that Apple's specialty? ;)

Yeah I can't wait to see it in person too. The first leaked photos look really sharp.

I just don't like the brick-thick appearance of it because it will either hurt to sit down if I'm wearing jeans or it will weigh down my shorts.

It's freaking annoying as all get out to have to remove it from your pocket everywhere you go to put it on a table.

or when youre driving and you try to get your phone out your pocket. its a pain in the ass with my Incredible i can only imagine what the bionic is gonna be like. usually i try and remember to take it out and put it in my cupholder but that doesnt always happen.

yanno, I should have stated( and did not, my apologies) that this was my opinion only. I'm not saying that thin phones are bad across the board, just bad in my POV. But, the responses of this thread have engendered the goofy comedian side of my nature....

read on....

Lol - fetish. I like.

And liking versus diddlying (is that even a word? :p) is always important.

And now, I've got Miz-A-Lot stuck in my damned head....

"Little in the middle but she's got much back...."

But, see, you're into cars like that. Some ppl are into phones like you are into cars. Some people are into yachts. Some people are into skyscrapers. Some people are into airplanes. Some people are into skateboards.

Sexiness is still a matter of opinion, and thus, is in the eye of the beholder.

I love the sexiness of the Challenger as well, but I'd be a liar if I said that the newest of he pony car duos (Camaro and Mustang) are not sexy, also. As a kid, I grew up with the MOPAR brand and always loved Chargers, Challengers, Road Runners, etc., so naturally I gravitate toward them, but I don't exclude other cars just because of manufacturer. With respect to phones, though, I am much more discerning, rarely looking at phones that do not pass my criteria for aesthetic appeal.

People want these thin phones because they are thin.. Then they use a phone case/ holder and make it thicker.. DUHHHHH

But flols with bigger phone do that too.

Not a problem here - Mine will be holstered...I'm putting it in my pockets for nothing.

That's true. But thicker phone will also be put in case and be even thicker. So the size difference still remains.

Zactly.

Not a problem either - in the car it will be in a car dock....being used as my Nav or else as my music source, when I get tired of SiriusXM.

well said... im getting the phone no matter what i was just saying heh

I for one will be steering clear of the HD and buying the Bionic come September. The pictures I saw showed a huge battery pull tab on the HD that made me think it could be changed easily. However, if you look closer, there is an amber tab extending from it screwed into the phone. So, you can change the battery, but definitely not on the fly. So, I am going to stick with the Bionic. The other reason I want a removable battery (other than having spares to keep me going) is that when the phone freezes, and is unresponsive, a quick battery pull usually fixes the problem in a pinch. I've had to do this a couple times on the road when my phone froze and I needed Google Navigate sooner than later. Sure, there are other phones coming soon, but there will always be later and greater on the way. Anyway, just my 2c.
