Root New to rooting and have some questions.

Ok now that gingerbread is rooted i am looking forward to finally root my phone. I wanted to do this a while ago but when i decided to go ahead it was to late, I had already installed the new update but what ever.
I would like to install the ROM Synergy RLS1 + GodMode to try it out. but before i can install it it says that i have to install Amon_RA's recovery so my questions is In which order do i do this??? Another thing was will i have to also install a kustom kernel??? if so which do u guys recommend??? Also ive been reading that u can overclock or underclock the processor. How is that done??? i was wondering if it can be done on the fly. What im saying is, have it set for battery life but when i want to play a game or something that requires more processing switch it over to performance.
Sorry for the really long post and thanks in advance to those that help me out.:D

ok so lets give you some reading materials before you try and root. most of these will have the answers to most of your questions:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/395962-guide-rooting-gingerbread-revolutionary.html

http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/389360-kernels-dummies.html

http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/210253-setcpu-guide.html

also read the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html guide. most of the info still pertains but the rooting and unrooting is different.

read all of these links before try to root. at least that is what i recommend. and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks for the tips. I rooted already was very simple after reading all the guides. i have been through about 5 different roms since I rooted and will keep on going through other to c which one i like best. So far the ones i like most that i have tried are: Synergy, and EVOlvedROM. I didnt really like CM7. not for me i got used to sense.I'm currently downloading Blue Sickness.
Also thanks on the tip on getting SetCPU. It has improve my battery like by double at least, also improve performance.

One more Question, Is there anyway i can loose 4G for ever by installing a rom or kernel??? Because i read somewhere that you can loose the service. Something about deleting a file or code that is unique to each phone and once removed you can never get it back.Just wondering. Not really that important for me because im not near 4G and the closest city is about 5-6 hours away and the second closest city is 9-10 hrs.

Technically it could happen. I've never had it happen, but you just never know, so that's why you need to make sure that you have at least one nandroid backup that contains your wimax keys. If you use Amon RA 2.3 and go to make a backup, you can select "wimax" as one of your backup options, so make sure you check that.

And I can't stress this enough, but use Amon RA as your recovery instead of Clockwork or even the new TeamWin Recovery Project. It supports everything, works great, and basically doesn't have any issues. All you have to do is go to the xda thread for AmonRA, use the "install from bootloader" method, download the PC36IMG.zip file and install it. It's easy. Let me know if you have any questions and I can walk you through it in more detail if you need.

YES, AmonRA.
About God mode and Kernels. This is how I see it, god mode is not stable right now. Not anyones fault. All ROMs come with the kernel with it for that ROM. Synergy's uses the stock ROM from OEM. There are 2 people right now tweaking things, and making things work better. I hear that either work well, I tried Gold Monkey on Synergy, no god mode, and did not like it, cut my battery life in half, I re flashed Synergy to get the stock back and I am back to 2 days on battery life.

That might explain y synergy was slower the second time i installed it. the fist time i installed it everything was running smooth and my apps would open almost instantly, but when i re installed it after CM7 it was a bit laggy. Now I'm running EVOlvedROM. But im looking for a rom that will support the ability to connect a ps3 remote to it so i can play my emulators. hopefully it HDMwIn will also work on the same rom that take the remote. I read that Blue Sickness was capable of pairing with the ps3 remote. Is Blue Sickness any good???

In case your wondering what i mean about connecting ps3 remote to phone. http://ps3.dashhacks.com/2011/08/09/control-android-with-sixaxis-controller

i will backup my wimax right now. And as for recovery I already have AmonRA. that was the second thing i did after root. the fist was to create a nandroid backup.but thanks for the info anyway.
