So I don't know if a post was written to report this but it seems as if Evan was banned for good. Thank you mods for putting up with us being pissed at him. You did your duty well by at least giving him a shot. Farewell Evan. Goodnight forum.

Woo hoo!!!!!!!! Ummmmmm.... Oops.... *cough*..... I mean that is too bad. Anyway, still having a great time with the ota leaked Rom, hope the update comes soon!

He's gone, yes. As I said a few pages back, ignore him and either he'll prove a valuable user our he'll crack under the missed attention.

Let's try to keep the thread in topic though (i.e. No need to discuss Evan).
PS... Any future parts about him or response to him or... Will be deleted.

:)

No offense, but the topic of this thread is about getting GB, not about other roms. If I wanted to read about other roms, I'd go to the rooted inc. Forum.... Talking about him and not GB, isn't much different than talking about rooting and other roms... There is a forum for that....

Just sayin....

I COMPLETELY agree! Root discussion belongs in the root forum, but it's a bit much to try to clean up from my phone.

:D

Guys, let's try to shift root discussion to the root forum!

Edit: When a guide sees this, please work on moving necessary posts.

:) In future please PM me/Kelmar/sdrawkcab25 or use the !report button. We would be more than willing to move stuff to a new thread.

I have been trying to let this thread's conversation flow some and was too busy to do anything other than make sure everyone was playing nice, lol.

I've moved every thing I thought needed it to here: http://androidforums.com/incredible-all-things-root/400790-leaked-ruu-radio-rom-whatever-thread.html

I will, thanks.

.... Now back to feeding the spider monkeys

I guess that since the land line division of Verizon empolyees are now back to work the Gingerbread Cookies should be popping out of the oven by the dozen. After all they are incredible..

We can only hope...

On a related note, wanna know how many times I've read the update PDF??

Higher than your post count? :p

Out of curiosity, the rollout has started and is still going on, right??? I HAVEN'T read the PDF (because N/A broke the int3rn3t).

Last I heard, the rollout didn't actually start. It was delayed due to some issues with the RUU. Based on the leaked RUU this week, many of us can point out several issues. Most of them seem to be minor, but it's too early for me to tell if the Bluetooth was fixed yet (huge bug in the May leak). The first ROM I cooked off this RUU seemed to exhibit the same bug, but the new one I'm testing right now seems to be working.

Regardless, I don't think Verizon wanted to push an RUU to the Incredible that lists it essentially as an Evo under the "About Phone" settings. Easy fix, but I was digging around, and you'd be surprised just how much Sprint shit is in there. Seems to be more than past versions. There's always going to be some due to to how related these phones are, but if it makes it into the final release, I'm going to have a lot of cleaning to do.

GB has been out for how long? and the Inc has been out for how long? And these simple things are being missed by Verizon's "crack" developers? Pretty scary... and if they couldn't test this stuff until right before supposedly releasing the update -then someone went "whoops!"...

Let me out!

Not sure if this comment is on or off topic, but here goes...
I installed the leaked RUU on a spare Incredible I had and I have to say if this is functionally that is going to be released I am seriously underwhelmed. It's almost a step backwards in UI and user function.

The biggest change I could find was that most of the HTC apps now how expanded version numbers eg Froyo = 1.00, GB = 1.00.000x.xxxxxx . Really, that's what they call an update? I can't even say it's any faster than the Froyo device right beside it. The new radio is getting about 5db better in a side by side comparison.

One thing I did check right away was that the /data/data partition still is allocated @ 150MB so anyone with the low application storage issue will continue to have that issue. And the HTC mail app still looks like it uses that partition like it's own private dumping ground. Shame, I like the HTC mail app but it's worthless with the /data/data restriction.

It looks like the browser is new and improved and you can open more than 3 windows which was the limit on Froyo.

Also it looks like they shuffled around some modules and exposed some new HTC helper apps and removed some others. Nothing that a user would really care about on a day to day basis.

All in all I would give this release and D- for how long it took to release a minimal number of changes. Giving us Sense 2+ would have at least made it worthwhile.

Don't get me wrong, I still think my Incredible is a top notch device but I'm now looking forward to Spring 2012 when I'm due for an upgrade and can get me some ICS.

I love posts along the lines of "Man, this update to eclair/froyo/gingerbread/ice cream sandwich sucks, it's just like I had before. I can't wait to get a phone that has froyo/gingerbread/ice cream sandwich/jelly roll out of the box...that'll be so AWESOME!"

There was a 0% precent chance of them making the /data/data partition bigger (I don't even think it's possible in an OTA), they apperently did some other magic to help alleviate the problem (supposedly when you move an app to the sd card, it now move the lib files that are stored in the partition to the sd card as well). There is a thread about that here

Thanks for taking the time to write a completely unproductive personal attack and reminding me why it's usually a complete waste of effort to post. I sure you are super smart but you completely missed my point.

I think my Incredible is great as is but it does have a couple of issues that I would have like to have addressed like the /data/data partition. That's NOT however why I am looking forward to replacing it in 6 months. I just like new gadgets, sorry if that offends you. If the issues were that bad I would have already switched to the Thunderbolt or Inc 2.

For the Incredible, the jump from Eclair to Froyo was great and very much worth it. I'm just not so sure about Froyo to Gingerbread. I'd love to jump into custom ROM's but can't afford to live on the bleeding edge with my daily use device so I'll just have to live with GB either way.

I totally agree that it was a longshot for them to effectively address the /data/data partition as part of GB but I was hopeful. I was not aware of that thread and certainly will check it out. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Unfortunately some big users of /data/data/?/lib are preinstalled core apps that you probably wouldn't want to push to SD such as Adobe Reader (3.6mb) and Adobe Flash (~8MB). Then there are apps com.htc.android.mail which since HTC has 100% control you would have hoped they would have modified to be more frugal with a storage area that has proved to be a problem on this device.

So while it may help to move the lib files of 3rd party apps like Angry Birds and Aldiko who each have multi-mb *.so files it probably won't totally address the issue. [edit]Holy crap Netflix uses a lot of space in the /data/data/?/lib dir. Maybe it will help more than I first thought. [/edit]

Just my $.02

Peace out.

His post was hardly.a personal attack. In fact I bet someone in this thread already spoke on the topic of people complaining about the update not doing enough.

Like in froyo, there will most likely be dozen of complaining posts about the update being worse than pre-update. Which is strange since gingerbread features have been out there for a long time yet people expect a lot more.

The froyo update was a combo of froyo and fixes they merged. I don't think this one will have much more than a new radio and gingerbread features.

Eaither way, most of the changes are already known yet many will expect.more.
