Just a quick question to Evan2ac. Since today is Friday (the day of your weekly meetings) and we still do not have any information from Verizon on when the update is coming out; would you be so kind as to publish any information you might glean from that meeting as to the possible release date of the corrected upgrade?

I know that is a lot to ask given the difficulty in balancing the unpredictability of the development of the upgrade and the desire on behalf of the public to have the release as soon as possible, but I find that communications is the best way to "thicken" the "fine" line that has to be walked to achieve this balance.

Not everyone will share my thirst for this information but I am grateful to see someone trying to communicate with the community. Thanks in advance.

Jesus, I leave for a few months and come back in the middle of a firmware update? What are the odds!!! Well I can see some things never change...LMAO...we are still talking about factory resets to fix sluggish phones after the update, we are still weighing the pros and cons of rooting instead of accepting the update and we are STILL trying to change the dates in our phones to force the update.:D

Damn I missed this place!!

Ok, what the hell Verizon:

HTC Sensation Android 2.3.4 OTA Update Rolling Out NOW

Two newer phones, from the same manufacturer, have received 2.3.4.. The Inc has been out for, what, over a year, and GB has been out for a while also.. and yet they're still having "issues" and "testing"? Strange how other carriers can pump out the updates, yet Verizon and their "crack developers" are still dragging. That bloatware must take forever to develop....

and BTW, good luck getting a straight answer from our friend - many simpler questions have gone unanswered...

Thanks Nick started missing it a little too...I debated coming back as "bizzaro jayjay" and getting all salty and confrontational but :p but I don't wanna make the job harder than it has to be for my friends in red and green!! ;)

I am quickly tiring of your condescending attitude.

It is his typical behavior, if you don't understand what is being discussed or are being proved wrong in logical and consistent manner, try and off set your loss by making the argument "personal" instead of arguing facts of which you have none.

Think of it as the same way people get louder when they lose arguments Iowa...

that said its my personal belief that the Rom released by Incubus WAS pulled from the actual OTA and the issues he found are the most likely reason why it was pulled. He is a LONG time XDA dev that has proven himself many times. I would take his word over "newer" posters, no matter who they "claimed" to be with. Especially if no proof was offered...

Just to be clear, this is the OTA. The system.zip was pulled from the ruu by us. We were told be our source to not release the radio or the ruu. Also not to mention his name out of fear he would get into trouble. That said, yes it is the OTA, and yes the build.prop came with sprint stuff. Such as, it said we had a 4.3 in display, front facing camera, and also didnt even allow for verizon apps in the market. Instead had sprint apps etc....

Noob question. If I wanted to install the Rom you posted and I had already applied unrEVOked 3, what is the best way? Would you use the clockworkmod rom manager? Or is there a different way to install it? I looked around for a while on xda and couldn't find the details on what to do.

TIA,
John

If you have the premium version of ROM Manager (which I HIGHLY recommend) then yes, you can use the feature under it to grab a ROM. If not, just place the zip file onto your SD card and flash away!

So, is it time for another pool on when the official OTA will be released?

This year?
Next year?
Some other time?

So, it's now live? Funny how I've not been notified, but it may just explain why the random reboots have started up again! I still have 2.2 Froyo, and that's all that I know of this.

I just read the abstract for new Gingerbread (they had to pick such a long name for it) features - support for front camera or rear and video calls (oh well, no front camera, so nobody gets to see how naked and ugly I am while talking to them).

The UI gets the improvements in the virtual keyboard department, which I suppose would be impossible to make any worse, whatever they change or add.

Not surprisingly, no changes are promised with the really bad aggravation of any excercise app which I may try being rendered impractical to the point of uselessness, due to screen needing to be on, which would give you very little time even on the lowest screen settings before the battery is gone. I know, this is an HTC problem, but HTC should have worked this out with Android (should they need to) to correct this issue by now. I have perused numerous threads on this issue, and those who complained were mostly dismissed by the experts as whiners, and I don't like that, so I'm gonna make my own noise. I must presume that those who see it as unimportant never had a phone which can track your steps with the screen off, all day or all week, no matter what you are running or not running on your phone. Mine was a simple accelerometer with step counter software, but it was very handy, and it was part of a non-smartphone Sony slider, which I picked up free with the contract more than four years ago. I have no shortage of reasons to love my DINC, but on my much more "advanced" DINC I cannot do that, and for that I'm pissed.

I also don't suppose that for all the blood-pressure-raising nightmares and aggravations which go with a factory reset and reinstall, Verizon will reward me with the ability to make my plans with Web assistance while talking to friends. The Verizon executive who downplayed the importance of such use is himself much too useless for his salary.

On the subject of nightmares and aggravations, I'm still recovering from the Froyo migration nightmare. The fact that a complete reinstall was necessary was not well communicated by Verizon for the benefit of us then newbies, but then it's still not clear why everything stops working on the present system, once the upgrade has been released. Suddenly a phone which for three months had no issues was heating up and randomly rebooting on me. I am starting to get periods of awful keyboard lag, and random reboots now, can that be related to the release of Gingerbread? On PC computers, there are many which still run good with Windows XP, and probably will five years from now, so I have to wonder if it's common for an Android phone to completely sh^t the bed as soon as the new OS is released? If so, why is this possible?

I also experienced the joy of finding out that my paid backup app failed me. MyBackupPro seemed promising, and I had selected carefully the option for backing up all my apps plus data, settings, and pictures onto my large 32G SD card, but somehow when I went to do the Restore it lost all settings and pictures! Anybody got a backup app which they like better?

As a happy DInc user, I'm looking forward to the OTA whenever it happens, problems or not. But I'm not putting my life on hold. The phone has worked well from day one on the original build and I can certainly wait for the update since it's taken so long as it is.

Here, here! The feature I'm most looking forward to in the update is the promise of a faster kernal. Froyo 2.2 was a nice boost -- this one is supposed to be even faster. With the increasing number of nice games available, speed is a real plus. I'm starting to read about and think the Nexus Prime will be my next phone running (dare I say it?) Ice Cream Sandwich...

Verzion makes a profit of .05 cents everytime someone hits check for system update. Thats why they are stringing us along. LOL:D
