Premium suggestions

Hello everyone. :)

Just thought I'd stop by and give some suggestions on things that may improve the Premium member aspect of the forum.

------------------------------
Have a milestone for the period of time someone has Premium membership. What I mean by this is...If someone has Premium Membership for a year, maybe give them a new badge (Some other things can be included...I'm just giving the general idea though). This would be a nice way to reward people for their continued donations (and to keep them donating ;) ).

As for a new badge...Some things that could be done maybe, would be for each year that someone is a Premium Member, have a new badge. After 1 year...A member would maybe obtain a badge which would say "Premium 1YR" or "Premium x1", then after 2 years "Premium 2YR"...Something along those lines.

After a major milestone...Such as 5 years of Premium membership..A badge such as "Super Premium" or "Honorary Premium" could be obtained.

------------------------------

Another idea that I've had. This will also help with gaining more Premium members. Have a premium members only contest every once in a while? You could maybe give away some minor small prizes at first...Such as Android Forum/Phandroid T-shirts...etc. Every once in a while you could do a bigger prize such as a new phone or something.

------------------------------
Just some thoughts I had. Take it as you will.

See ya'll around. :)

Sorry to be pedantic, but "Honourary premium" would be someone with premium status, who had not paid for it ;)

I can't afford to be premium, but if i could, I would be scared off by the badge. I find it quite garish.

It would be nice if you could select one of a few designs / status' (to be agreed by moderators)

for example, Setting custom colour. And then maybe categories such as "expert" if you help people a lot, or "developer" etc etc

Developers are recognized here. They are in this orange colour

"Expert" is reserved for whoever posts an air tight remedy for members who go into Tips and Tricks sub-forums and post asking for advice, rather than just to give a tip and advice as they should.

:D ;) etc..

I like your ideas. I think it's great when members get personally involved. It gives more of a sense of community. Thank you!

Haha, thanks Steven58.

I do like to contribute as much as possible. Especially to a community as great as this one is. :)

There is no air tight remedy.

As mentioned before though, lock it down.

The whole tips and tricks sub forums. Lock it down so no one can post new threads there. Then members can maybe use "tip this thread" or "report" to alert those with sufficient privileges to move it to the forum.

Im sure there are raesons why this is not a good idea (I dont want to know whaat they are though ;) ), but its just my thought

Actually I'd like the option in my user setup to display the Premium label and color or hide it. I'm happy to contribute but the label seems to single one out for unwanted scrutiny sometimes.

Could you give some examples of that scrutiny, dautley? You made me curious about that, thinking back to when I had the gold "premium" label, all I recall about it is queries as to "what you get" once you pay for premium, etc.

See PM, no eye rolling allowed, you asked:)
I would just like Premium Members to have the ability to turn it on or off. It really doesn't bother me that you can't now, but a choice is always nice.
