Root [NEW SuperOneClick] Root, Install & Use xRecovery on Xperia X8

Hello, i just bought an Xperia X8 (Orange, Dominican Rep.) and i was able to root it successfuly. Now the thing is that i can't seem to get the xRecovery to work. I did all the steps, triple-checked, and no luck. But i wonder, this X8 came with build 2.0.1.A.0.47 and the updater says it is updated to the latest. I believe this build version has to do with the problem but then, what can i do now? I saw a post where someone stated that was able to do it with this same stock build using xRecovery-mini-0.1-beta which i already tried also and no luck.

Can anyone having this same version and having successfuly made xRecovery work give me some advice? Thanks in advance!

Xperia X8 E15i
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Baseband version: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404006
Kernel version: 2.6.29
Build number: 2.0.1.A.0.47

*Update* I managed to find this post ( forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825228 ) and was able to change the customization code for my X8 to 1242-7327 as instructed in the tutorial and now i got a new update available on Update Service, i was able to update to Baseband ver. M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015 and build 2.1.1.A.0.6, gonna try reinstalling xRecovery now, will post results as soon as they come!

*Update 2* After deleting the old chargemon file from system i was able to install xRecovery.E15i.installer.apk, rebooted and i was able to run xRecovery!! Going to install update-GingerDX.v013 now, wish me luck!

Hi,

you do not need to unroot and root again. Also once you have rooted and installed xRecovery you can just use xRecovery to flash any custom rom you want.

Just remember that if you are changing custom roms to factory reset (full wipe) before you flash a new rom and factory reset (wipe data) under the privacy settings after you have setup your xperia x8.

Now... you have to start all over again...
1) copy custom to sd card
2) Root
3) install xrecovery
4) using xRecovery <factory reset (full wipe)>
5) flash custom rom
6) factory reset (wipe data)

cheers :)

gabeyong I would like to give a big ass THANK YOU TO YOU :).

After reading so many sites links youtube junk and spending the part of 6 to 8 hours on many different sites i almost, almost gave up in hoping to upgrade my x8 handset to a different rom to support new tools aps and games.

I was about to go out and buy a new handset just to get new aps from aps market that i wanted so bad i was going to splash out for a newer handset but i realy do enjoy my x8 that i only got a few months back as it was on offer for 40% off so i couldn't grumble as they put there prices back up the following week lol.

Anyway after reading your guide and following it step by step and there was some different parts in your guide that wasn't explained proper in other peoples site guides or videos i tried following.

After stumbling across yours on a related video and they posted all info to this site how to do it and references to you with you on it i was indeed happy to stop looking at videos guides and other sites guides and getting sick and tired lol.

Within 40min of following your guide i can now say i can flash to any rom without problems so far.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I did have 1 problem at the start that was saying unable to read temp/log or unable to wright to or read. Cant remember lol anyway so far so good haven't ran into any problems yet.

I have some questions tho if am wanting to upgrade the xRecovery tool that you use when rebooting phone to flash or do rom or recover how do i upgrade that tool to newer versions of the Xrecovery

Hi,

1) xRecovery v0.1 is specifically compiled for Xperia X8 and xRecovery v0.3 is specially made for Xperia X10. So there is no need to upgrade xRecovery.

2) You can try GingerDX if you want to upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3

Hi,
Most important thing is DO NOT PANIC.
you can never mess up the Xperia X8.
you got two options...

Option 1
1) if you still got xRecovery working
a) reboot phone wait for the words SONY Ericsson to appear hit the back button a few times.
b) navigate to <backup/restore> hit the <restore>
c) when the restore is completed hit <reboot>

Option 2
2) if xRecovery is not working or you don't have a backup
a) shutdown the X8
b) start PC Companion on your PC navigate to Support Zone
c) connect mini USB to Phone then hold the back button
d) connect the USB to you PC
e) PC Companion will detect you phone in recovery mode and install the Official SE Android Eclair 2.1.1 back on your phone.

The down side to option 2 is that PC Companion will unroot and erase xRecovery on your phone.

hello to all!!
i have just finished rooting my android and installing xrecovery successfully but after installing the new ROM froyo for the X8....

it said that baseband not compatible. i know that it needs to be baseband version xxxx15. my phone has xxxxxx06.
does anyone know how can i upgrade the baseband version of my phone?i've already tried pc companion and updated it and repaired it and tried all sort of stuffs. can anyone just give me a step by step procedure on how to upgrade my baseband? my phone is sony xperia x8. really appreciate it if you can. thanks a lot.

When I open root explorer or busybox, It says I haven't rooted my phone yet. I have already rooted it, there's also superuser in my phone.

So how do I fix? Also there's no bin folder in my system folder!

Hi,

There is something wrong...
Your phone should be a /system/bin folder
You might have to do it all again...

restore Eclair 2.1 using PC Companion
root using SuperOneClick
install xRecovery using Root Explorer.

cheers :)

Hi,

To restore using PC Companion...

1) Download and install PC Companion on your PC or Laptop
2) run PC Companion and navigate to the software section
3) shutdown Xperia X8 and connect mini USB cable to phone
4) hold <back> button of Xperia X8 and connect USB cable to PC

PC Companion should detect your Xperia X8 in recovery mode and install the official Eclair 2.1.1 software on it.

When PC Companion starts to download software from the internet you can let go of the back button of the Xperia X8 phone.

Let the "software update" process compete by itself --> phone should reboot with Eclair software.

cheers :)

How can I navigate to the software section? There's no other buttons to click on in my PC companion other than the settings.

It should look like that... Support Zone <Click> Start
