Root [ROM] CyanogenMod 7 Huawei M835

In all honestly you all have been very lucky not to end up with a unrecoverable brick ;)

all i did was go in the build prop and edit the screen density. people flashed the ascend recovery and ascend roms and all they complained about was screen size and wifi. cm6 worked and u said for people to try cm7 cause that should work too. i grabbed all the different versions and changed the density on all of them and just started trying them out, this was the only one that worked.idk y, like i said earlier im not a dev. it works on my phone and it has been for days. i take no credit it building this, all i changed is one number in the build prop re-zipped it and flashed it. i ran it for a few days to check it out, everything worked fine so i posted it. if people wanna use it they can, if not dont. i doubt this will b of any use to helping u build because i didnt do much, but if it does cool. i look forwaerd to when u finish ur build,
 
Now that My M835 is running perfectly I decided to make an effort to restore my BRICKED Ascend that would not budge past the Huawie Boot Screen after installing the wrong bootloader. Nothing had worked so far but this did!

THIS WORKED


HOWTO : Flash the Huawei Ascend & M835 to stock

These directions are for metroPCS.

Fastboot Method
(Note:This method will work even if the phone will not start or go into recovery)

Download the Following Package:
MetroPCSStock Recovery Package with Scripts

1)Attach phone to USB
2)Power Phone Off
3)Enter Fastboot (End Call + Volume Down - while phone turns on)
4)Run script relevant to your OS
metroPCSStock-linux.sh
metroPCSStock-mac.sh
metroPCSStock-windows.bat
5) Your phone will automatically reboot

WARNING: DO NOT power off the phone during the process.

is there anyway to allow the tethering option on this??? im running this mod on my m835.and also is there any way to upgrade the prl i want to see if 3g is in my area?

Im kinda new to adding custom roms to android, can someone give me some advice on what i should do step by step preferably to load this CM7 rom to my rooted M835

make sure to to data wipe/factory reset and wipe dalvik cache.

can't do MMS or make/receive phone calls. Says mobile network not available. tried reflashing twice, no luck
*edit. I flashed to a different rom and was still unable to make calls.. started to get worried until I flashed back to stock rom and it worked again.

Works great for me only issue is that i cant do picture messages (mms)
 
Hey guys, that build that @uptnolaboy works. Havent tried MMS yet, but everything else works fine. The only thing was your contacts n such cant be restored. You have to go back to your stock, back up your contacts, and then import them in the new build. Screen size is perfect, except the lockscreen, but not a big deal. WIFI WORKS. Calls work, SMS works, the works. But remember, YOU MUST WIPE ALL DATA. You'll get a Boot Loop if you dont.

Installed this ROM 4 times, just to make sure, all good. Been using it since yesterday. You can also backup and restore your apps if you'd like, if like me you have a lot. Also, you might want to re-root, as its not S-OFF.

PS, Cant wait till you get the CM7.2 workin PG. gna be beast.

shouldnt be no need to reroot something that was never locked down to begin with ;)

Got it working fine now... must have been a fluke the first time I tried flashing to CM7. Everything works fine, 'cept the android market doesn't let me download a LOT of apps... says my device isn't compatible. Even what I thought would be more simple apps like Advanced Task Killer and Facebook are 'incompatible'.

Flashing a rom shouldnt change your root so maybe you werent fully rooted in the first place?

Yea im having that problem too but its solved easily by downloading an .apk instead of through the market
 
I too got a bootloop at first until i wiped my cache then it worked flawlessly when i tried to install it again. Like many who installed the CM7 on their phones, i quickly realized that i cant get many simple apps like facebook which is a huge deal for a social person like me. I restored my original rom for that reason alone and I am willing to go back to CM7 once its optimized for the M835 :)

ur contacts can b restored. before u flash go into contacts, hit menu, hit import export contacts to sd card and pick export to cd card. after u flash the rom go back to contacts do the same thing except pick import contacts and ur good to go. all ur contacts r back in 20 seconds. and about the boot loop u have to do a factory reset and wipe dalvik cache before u flash it. as for the mms i just realised it didnt work, i never use it so i forgot to check it. as for the tethering try the wifi tether app, im about to download it now and try it should work though.and about not having the apps u used to have get titanium back up and backup all ur apps that way after u flashur rom u can restore any app u want. this is not the official rom, just a modded one, but the rom does work, if ur not familiar with flashing roms u should do a lil reasearch first so u dont brick ur phone.

You can install every app you used to have by uninstalling the market updates through the manage application in settings.
Then stop it from updating and you can then always get all the stuff you used to have because before the newest updates the market never checked for compatibility

If I knew what files to mod with the correct screen resolution for the M835 I would be happy with this ROM, But I do not :confused:
The resolution is not that bad most of the time but there are certain screens that its not that great.

Mate35 works perfect (trust me, I looked for flaws, found none I can think of).
Cm7 has its issues but it isn't meant for the m835 anyway. I put my LCD density to 110 to fix the clock app and other app display issue. Also, cm7 keeps sticking in landscape mode.
