Root Noob to Android Phones

*THought i would post this.

WOOHOO First brick!! i was trying to get the sgsII touchwiz4.0 and found some website that told me to flash this random zip so i did...then i got stuck in a bootloop where it just kept staying on the samsung splash...Got into CWM and restoring at the moment hopefully i wont have to try Odin...fingers crossed. lol heart pumping xD adrenaline rush...Kinda scared but in the back of my head i know this thread has real life witness of odin getting it back to stock...wheww

EDIT: YES!!! CWM ftw! I happened to wisely do a nandroid backup right b4 screwing up and am now back to where i was. Phew all in a days work. :) OMG if only u guys knew hoe releived i feel right now :D

Probably as relieved as I was to get my phone back from the dreaded bootloop hehehe Good Job!!!

Oh i should probably say this, from xda i have just learned that if you restore a nandroid make sure you wipe the dalvik cache beforehand. It will not produce any errors or problems.

Its been out - download it a few days ago...

Now this is new...

[ROM][2.3.5] MIUI 1.9.23 for Infuse **9/26**

Holy crap. So what's the exact procedure to get this?
Om just going to install the community kernel then factory reset, flash the rom....go into recovery then flash it again and reboot??? Why do I hav to flash it twice!?

OK. I've bricked the thing yet again and this time its bricked bigtime due to me being stupid and installing a 2.2 kernel...so ill have to Odin stock. But b4 that, is there anyway I can pull / push files from my sdcard when iin download mode or recovery?that way I can just pt a kernel into my sdcard...

WELL WHAT CAN I SAY: Yet another living witness of gtg's unbrick doing its magic. phone's back alive...now for root, install cwm, flash community kernel and straight to MIUI...

EDIT: OMG!!! i still have all the files in my sdcard they werent wiped...so i can nandroid restore to just b4 when i bricked. sweetness!

Umm they are restricted to stay, if you format your sd card then it will remove them. But wiping only refers to wiping the system files.

OK...so i've got pretty much my whole sd card backed on my pc so m going to install that stupid bricker kernel again then wipe cache and wipe data then install rom twice...someone needs to make this process more streamlined so people dont have such a high chance of screwing up

WTH...after flashing the community kernel v8 that wierdo lady voice is popping up...i swear that kernel is possesed...

EDIT:DONE! ive got the darned rom thank god!!!!

You did Miui? I did the rom i said earlier and it is sick! Just going to load S.A.S tweaks then it will be super fast.

i have only a few issues with the rom...
coming from infused it is sooo different it dosnt feel like my phone anymore...the settings are all MIUI biased and the stock launcher is crud...i restored all my data and apps with titanium backup yet again without problems so far...

I have only 2 issues.

1. Why do my app icons have a background?? looks wierd...not used to it
2. Can i install infusion-gb kernel? The community kernel cooks my processor at 1600...cant handle it as well as infusion

EDIT: seriously my phone dies even on like a few seconds of 1600mhz ... wat is wrong??? it reboots!!!

EDIT: HOLY **** DID I JUST SCORE 3463 ON 1400mhz!!! DUDE!!! *rips off head

EDIT: 4000+ on 1600...dude...my processor must be tired!!!

Ok well I think the apps are supposed to have a backround, and do not install a different kernel! Miui and S7 have to use a special kernel, or else it will not work. If you were running a Hellraiser based rom (like me it is Dlev 5), then it is compatible with any GB kernel for the Infuse. Oh and do not have it on 1.6 ghz, it is extremely unstable on that rom. This is one of many reasons I do not have it, where Dlev is being a beast, just like Infused 2.2.2/3, due to just sticking with roms made for this phone (or closely related Captivate lol).

Darn...i cannot choose whether to stay on MIUI or go to Infused 2.2.3...
What are the main features of Dlev 5? Is it easy to install?

Also i luckily did not install a different kernel after scoring so high on quadrant. Im debating on whether or not i want a ROM with super sparkle everywhere you look or a normal more Infuse-ish ROM like infused 2.2.3. Its a hard choice.

So if i wanted to go to Infused 2.2.3 how should i do it? Just flash that ROM? What i want to do if i ever wanna go back is just restore my nandroid backup of infused 2.2.3 ... good idea?

To go back, all you have to do is wipe data and wipe dalvik cache and then restore from nandroid. It is easy to install, but i am going back to infused just because i feel more comfortable with it, and that seems more like a daily rom then this, due to some minor but annoying bugs.

Can I keep the community kernel if I switch back to infused? I think I will wait till infused is 2.3.5 then switch. I actually think miui.us is really cool because it has themes and u can mix up parts of the themes so I got rid of the app backgrounds and it looks like infused so I'm really liking it

Just stating the phone is not running the community kernel, it just uses it to be a base to run its own. And probably the Infused next update will be for the full ATT release, which could be any day now.

Well i thought i wud share my thrilling bricking experience yet again. I was trying to go to infused from miui and without realizing flashed the 2.2.1 - 2.2.3 update rom....so there i was bricked and my recovery image was gone so i had no recovery lmao. I had to manually get into download mode and go to stock, root, and then install 2.2.3 infused. But get this i made the same mistake and forgot about the recovery file and got into a boot loop. So out of desperation i nandroid restored to the point right b4 i was bricked and voila back to miui safe and sound.....wat an adventure!

This is the most heart warming thing to see in my life LOL :P
