Root [ROM] [MikRoms] Invigorate v1.0 Beta III [9/26/11] Sense 3.5 Vigor Port!

Wow chingy is back on XDA. I was expecting to see the sense 3.5 rosie to call this a vigor port. Seems odd that bamf is able to do it and no one else can

I think that the Bliss version is a fork from the Vigor sense version, and HTC created it so it'll work on a less powerful platform (aka, non dual-core)

Well, the Bliss is obviously more developed than the Vigor, and isn't the screen resolution the same as the Tbolt? So it may be am easier ROM to start from.

That's what I thought as well. It'll be interesting to how the Bliss rom will end up in the hand of TeamBamf.

That's quite a shame.
Awful. It's no wonder why some devs just don't want to release their work. There are some in irc that just make personal builds for themselves and friends. They don't charge but they don't release it into the wild either.

I'm not upset at all.

Sorry, but that is not the way the rules work. They have no way to only let people use their work "with permission". It is not copyrighted work, and pretty much cannot be. So once it is released to the puiblic, its gone.

HTC and Google and the chip manufacturers did all the real work. Adrenlyn needs to run his little program against the base HTC code, just like liquid needs to against CM7. These guys are hypocrites. No one ever seems to remember to thank HTC for creating sense in the first place, lol.

I really like running custom ROMs and I appreciate the devs for what they do, but all this whining needs to stop.

Adrenlyn could have got his point across with a few funny remarks in the forums and come off in a 1000 times better light. And if he did do some kanging, would it have killed chingy to give some credit? They both let their egos get in the way of doing what they supposedly do for fun.

Once again, DT may be kind of an oddball and runs off madly in all directions, but you never got any of this from him. Xoom doesn't seem to do this crap either--in fact he often uses self-effacing humor. Even if they are not the best devs in terms of technical talent (hell, maybe they are?), at least they are fun to be around, which is kind of the point.

For me, it's like plagiarism. Claiming the work of someone else as your own. Adr is claiming only that Eris did the real work of porting a ROM for the Vigor, while Chingy seems to just took all of those efforts and released it as his own work. As an outsider, I was amazed that Chingy was able to port the 3.5 Rom over so quickly compared to Eris, but, alas, this is not true.
In an environment where the only sensible thing Chingy could have done, was ask to see if he could fork his own ROM from it, Chingy decided not to do it. That's not cool.

Now, I don't know if Adr did kang anything from Chingy (did he, though?), right now, the situation is what it is; quite a shame.

And now, Chingy respond.

It's become just a war of words now. So here's where I'll take my words and shove it somewhere else. I didn't care, and I shouldn't have comment anyway. I'll go and focus on my AOSP rom now. KThanxBye.

I am pretty sure that chingy is allowed to kang from the other devs all he wants but has to give credit to the dev that did the porting. I can take someone else's rom change some png files and redistribute it all I want but I have to give credit to the person who did the work before me. It is not a matter of HTC did the work so nobody deserves to claim ownership because HTC didn't do the work. They may have done it to begin with and it has become public but someone else (in this case it looks like the BAMF team) had to do the porting to the thunderbolt. As of now I really don't care either way, but I think I will sit back and enjoy a good old XDA fight between the two devs (oddly enough both devs that "retired" from XDA months ago :D)

You know, I just read the XDA thread. I may have let my dislike of Adrenalyn (sorry, but there you are, lol) and my ambivalence towards chingy bias me a bit. Now I don't like either one, lol.

I can see the bamf guys' point of view, I am just not to thrilled about the way they are dealing with it.

So, Cowboys or 'Skins?

(And we are so much a bunch of nerds if that is not a more controversial subject!)

Giants will kick ass this year. How in the heck did they ever decide to call them America's team? That is such BS it sickens me. :-))

I moved here long after all the America's Team stuff. About five cowboys live in my neighborhood (they are the 25 year old guys driving Ferarris, so easy to spot). (For the record, I am not trying to brag--it is a big development with a huge range in prices for houses. Developed by the sons of Bum Bright, too.) I run into Bradie James now and then at the coffee shop and the local wing place. I grew up a Browns fan, but you live somewhere long enough it just sort of creeps up on you. One day you check the scores or something and think "damn, the Cowboys lost." Then you realize that somehow you became a fan. Osmosis or something.

this all reminds me a little to much the of blackdroid fiasco:rolleyes:. pretty much everyone kangs. heck look at aosp roms based off cm7! i wish chingy would have given credit but oh well. either way it gives us all more choices. win win as i see it.

now,more importantly, gators or elephants?

The national media has pretty much forgotten about the red elephants--you are lucky I am old dewd. I'm a Big10 guy. How about they both lose?

(Promise, last OT post. ROM may get the boot from everywhere anyway.)

I just spent ten minutes on google trying to find out the source of this term. I always figured it may be an eponym, but I cannot find anything.

I have no idea the actual source. I always assumed it was a play on the line from that Vietnam move "I love the smell of napalm in the morning"

I meant the word kang.
From the urban dictionary: To have one's developer code and work taken, manipulated, rebranded, and re-released by someone else with no credit.

Not sure of the origin but you should get the gist of it from that.

I know what it means. Pretty obvious from context the first time I saw it used. I was just wondering if there was an infamous Kang somewhere, lol.
