you should budget at least 3 days for resetting your renewal. if you're still within your 30 days on sunday just do an exchange.Reading failure on my part
Has anyone ever gotten any grief returning a phone within the 30 days and cancel the contract renewal and then turning around and do another contract renewal for the phone you want?

Yeah, I live about 6 hours from the rest of my family, so no primary account holder will be on hand to bless my swap in person. I could wait an extra 9 days until I make a trip to visit, but I don't think I could handle it. I am interested in the idea of Costco and free accessories this time around - might try to call ahead to AT&T and Costco both and see if I can get some indication of whether or not this will work.
They are clueless but once they have the info they do it quickly. Just have it all ready before calling.
Be real careful with those adapters. I used one in my Infuse when I sold my iPhone 4 and needed to remove it from the Infuse. As I was taking it out the SIM dislodged from the adapter (very common) and the adapter got "hooked" onto the springy SIM pins in the phone and when I tried removing it it broke 2 of the springy pins in the phone. Had to send it back to Samsung for repair, which, by the way, they did NOT charge me for even though I did the damage myself. Excellent service.
If you are foolish enough to take your phone to the beach and near or in the highly corrosive salt water & sand you absolutely deserve to be ripped off by purchasing the insurance and paying 1/3rd the price of the phone for it. That's the main reason I stick with GSM providers, when I go somewhere "dangerous" I put the SIM in my 7 year old Moto Razr and don't worry one bit. You are a Best Buy salesperson's dream customer. Electronics equipment "insurance" purchases are the absolute worst money spent.So, let me get this straight. I'll get my GS II on Sunday (hopefully) and if I accidentally drop my phone in the deep blue ocean next month (I've done this!), I shouldn't worry. I'll just call AT&T and tell them Mister Ed sent me

When you get a new phone it has a 1 year swap out warranty then your CC gives you another year of warranty. All free.
All electronics insurance is a waste of money. Use your Amex (or other CC) then you will have 2yrs at no cost. Put $15 in the bank each month, then you will have something in the end. Everyone is so brainwashed with this insurance on electronics that every financial website says is the worst money you can possibly spend.
It really all depends. Mgf cut down there warranties for big ticket items from 5-10 years to like 1. Stuff that cost a lot and is suppose to last a longt time. Our washer machine broke down out of the standard warranty and would have cost us 600+ to fix.
Tv's fair better Out of my tv warranties I only had to replace a remote once. Warranties do provide peice of mind. It is only a waste if it is not needed but if it is.

MisterEd was talking about the warranty that is sold by the store, not the manufacturer's warranty. My friend bought a plasma AND the 3 year warranty from Brandsmart. The TV broke about 3 months after the purchase. You know what Brandsmart did? Told him to contact LG. So... he paid for what? Same friend - buys a laptop (I think it was BestBuy). He buys the added warranty (he never learns), the hard drive breaks. They were supposed to change the laptop for a new one. They never did. Only after my friend talked to a bunch of managers & cr@p, they changed the hard drive.
I know I started all the BestBuy buyback thing, but after a second look, I realized it falls in the same category with regular "accident protection insurance piece of mind warranty".

It depends. I once bought a cheap pair of headphones (about $5), their insurance was $7.99.

Hey guys! How does at&ts upgrade policy work? More specifically, when I get this new phone on October 2nd, when's the next time I can upgrade? (Thinking ahead B-) )
your full discounted upgrade won't be available for 24 months. bu i think around month 20 you can upgrade again for less of a discount. probably an extra 150 - 200

It's a year for the main line, and 21 months for the full upgrade on the other lines. At least for me, it might be different cause I'm on a business account
I'm a yacht salesman, so I have no choice but to be "foolish" MisterEd.
Be aware that ST is "1 time only." If they pay you for a loss you have to buy a new phone then buy the insurance again. They also don't pay for the tax you paid for the original or the tax you will pay for the new one. There is also a $50 deductible. They are an excellent company though.
LOL. Assuming that is true, than you would be an exception to the general rule. Had you stated that initially I would have qualified my comment somewhat but it's still a waste of money.
I was eligible for a full upgrade @18 months. I think it depends on your bill? There are a plethora of places you can check your upgrade date, the easiest probably being while logged into your account.
So we're 3 days out of the supposed release date...and ATT.com still says "coming soon". Not encouraging.

That's correct. I've seen them do it with several phones. There have been several official announcements by both AT&T and Samsung saying it will be the 2nd.

My wife insisted on going to Pier 1 tonight so I walked over to the AT&T corp store and asked about the SG II. The guy looked in their systems and said it comes out on 10/02/2011. He also said they have a sample unit in back for the salespeople to play with. He said they should get their shipment on Friday or Saturday.

I got my infuse for $30 out of pocket...buy back on it is $300 until December....
it's like anything else...you just have to do the math.
In this case...not really bright to buy the SG2 with the buy back as a fall back plan.
We have one upgrade available now (took back the thrill) and another in December....we are going to wait and see what LTE offerings are available after the wedding in Nov
but of course...teto
in other, unrelated news...I dropped by sprint to pay my outstanding last bill there, they were doing iphone training
man am I glad I got out of that when I did...they are cutting all of the good sprint programs like premier and bill to account
Wow is that right? There's something on my online account about I "may be eligible for upgrades in March" which is about the 20 month mark. I always assumed that was the full upgrade and have been counting the days.
If it's only some partial thing where I still have to pay 350-400 for a phone, I'd rather just pay 600 and get it over with I think. Once the "perfect" phone comes along anyway. That way, I'll be satisfied, and can run off contract for a while, so I can keep that upgrade in my pocket so to speak.
I have a question though, I was reading on some website that if the cell carriers change some fees, you can get out of your contract earlier, because it's in the fine print that if they raise fees you can get out early. I carry the insurance (as Mr Ed says, bad idea I'm going to cancel it). Right now it is 5 a month they are raising it to 7 a month in Oct. My question is, doesnt that constitute a change of fees by which I can get out of my contract early?
No it's not correct. AT&T's website is correct. If it says you'll be available to upgrade in March, that's that.
