Root DX Bootstrap Recovery with .605 black screen....

I noticed a few others complained about this. Not specifically with .605 but that's what I have. I just purchased from the market and installed. I'm rooted.

When I press:

Bootstrap Recovery (click ok)

and then press:

Reboot Recovery

it just freezes there on a black screen. I can see the backlight is on so I know it's powered but not nothing beyond that. The developer website doesn't appear to have a support link as far as I can find.

Any ideas?

Not happy. I *purchased* the drod x version only to find out reading the comments here that I should have bought the D2 version for GB but it doesn't say that on the dx market page. Then I purchased the D2 version only to find out it won't let me download it to my phone because it's a DX, not a D2. Even worse, I can't refund the purchase because you can only do that from the phone.

I purchased the DX version first only to learn that the D2 version is the only one that works with GB on the DX. So I purchased that but it won't let me select my phone to download it. I can't even refund it :(

Since you have the DX bootstrapper installed, go into Settings>Applications>Development and make sure "USB debugging" is not checked, that should fix it for you.

The DX bootstrapper works too, check your other thread, I replied to you there.

Thanks. I already checked that. I finally found the droid2bootrap.apk just by googling it. I saved it to my sdcard and then installed it and it worked just fine.

You mean you "checked" USB debugging as in put a checkmark in the box? If so, remove the checkmark, it should not be there when using the DX bootstrapper, for the the D2 bootstrapper it doesn't matter whether it's checked or not.

EDIT:
Yes, the D2 bootstrapper is pretty easy to find through a Google search.

My wife unknowingly took the .605 update. D2 Bootstrapper did the same thing to me on her phone because she lost root. I tried re-rooting using the DROID 3 easy root script v7. Can't find the link right now. Anyway, it installed Superuser but nothing gained root access - including D2 Bootstrap/Recovery.

This one, worked however (I think - she took her phone to work this morning and I didn't have a chance to check.)

No. I mean it wasn't checked.

Glad to see I am not the only one after the .605 upgrade. I want to do a nandroid backup but have been unable to for the same reason. I have no problems shelling out a few more bucks for the D2 bootstrap if that is what it takes.
