Hi there guys. So I installed the Mik3D ROM on my EVO along with the Chopsuey 9.2.7 kernel. I have noticed that after about 15-30 of syrfing the web or using it, it starts getting really hot. It jumps from being at around 85 degrees to over 100 degrees.

Any idea what is going on or what should I do??

Are you using setcpu or one of the other app that controls you phones processor? Are you over clocking you processor? If you are over clocking your phone will heat up a bit, battery along with the processor will get warm.

the phone will get hot as you use it. but that seems a little high. how fast are you overclocking? maybe try another kernel as well.

I am not manually overclocking. I am not using any other apps to set cpu speed. It was get hotter on me before with the stock rom but it never felt this hot. I have no clue what the kernel has the processor set at. I do notice the the battery life when on standby is much better than before.

If you guys think I should use another kernel, which one should I use and can i flash anither kernel without erasing all my data? I am fairly new to flashing roms and kernels. I would love a kernel that has great battery life.

i would try the golden monkey 1.1 kernel then maybe try the freedom kernel. and all you need to wipe is dalvik cache and cache before flashing the kernel. you are not wiping data so all of your settings and stuff will be fine. just make a nandroid back up first. try the onedemand governor with a screen off profile 245/245 with setcpu.

So I did notice that the issue with overheating was primaily with using Dolphin HD. It doesn't seem to heat up as much at all with the stock browser or other apps. I have reinstalled Dolphin to see if that makes a difference. I will test it out and post my results.
