Root Which bloatware apps can I freeze...

...without damaging my phone's operations?

I had a virgin app auto download on me tonight (app "Downloads") and it tried to put some other tweet-type app on my phone, I think.

I'd like to freeze the bloatware so it can't work/update/add things to my phone. Can I freeze the "SSA" (don't know what that is), "TalkBack," "Downloads" and other virgin standard apps that came on the phone?

TIA!

The "SSA" app is the activation app and might come in handy if you ever have problems with WiFi and 3G.
TalkBack is a screen reader that provides spoken feedback when using native android applications. Comes in handy for hands free stuff.

You can freeze the bloatware with "Titanium Backup" or download "App Quarantine" which is a lot easier and faster.

Good to know, thanks!

Do you know what "SoundBack" is? Same sort of thing as TalkBack? And KickBack?

I have TiBu and am looking at the list of apps...the system apps are red...I see a lot of android apps that I don't understand, like TTS and UTS, etc. Are there any freezable android system apps? Or should I not touch anything I don't need to?

I just don't want any "secret downloads" happening on my phone, LOL. TIA

You might be able to, but first you will need to make sure you have made a backup in your recovery of your current ROM(stock or custom).
Then if freezing the app causes you phone to display all manner of warning boxes like "android system,so forth and such" or "google framework services,so forth and such" then you need to unfreeze it.
If your system freezes then you need to pull battery and go into the recovery and restore the backup.
As far as soundback or kickback,no I don't really. You could open them up and see.
I'm not really sure about the other apps but I'm sure their more of a supportive type of app and are used to help other apps accomplish their designed function.
As far as the secret downloads go here http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus-v/423992-preventing-stock-apps-updating.html
