Help Left DROID X to charge overnight - now it's DEAD!

JFSNY

Hello,

I simply put my DROID X on the wall charger last night - did NOT turn it off - and when I went to use it this morning it was absolutely dead. Tried the battery pull move several times. Tried connecting to PC to see if it would read it. NOTHING. Is the battery dead or is the DROID dead? It's less than 2 years old.

Thanks.

Is the charger the original factory charger?

After a battery pull, insert battery, plug in wall charger... do you get a Motorola logo followed by the Battery charging picture? If so, then its most likely your battery. If you get nothing, then may be the phone. But the only way to really tell is by trying a known good battery.

Why don't you bring it in to a Verizon store and ask them to try it with a good battery?

Yes. I did all that. Verizon put in a new battery and still nothing. Apparently the Motorola Droid X died. Nice quality - bought it AUG 2010. Died Oct 2011.

Sucks for me.

Looks like I'll try something other than a Moto now.

Many other DX users are still using theirs purchased at the same time as yours. Clearly that shows that there is nothing wrong with the build quality. But if you choose not to use another Motorola device based on some oddity that happened to yours, it's your choice.
Good luck.

Perhaps, but as the saying goes, 'Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me.' $500+ devices are not what I want to attempt a 2nd try with.

My battery went bad a month ago or so(after a little immersion in water). Take the battery out and try to spin it on a flat surface. If it spins easily, the battery has been damaged and may not charge.

BigBadWolf--- we tried a new battery at the Verizon store, even put it on charger, but it was still dead. Tech couldn't explain it.

No worries. AmEx covered it under their extended warranty benefit and my new Samsung Droid Charge is working out nicely so far.

Cheers!
