No more android os "bug"

Hawker

Android Expert
Latest beta build of siyah kernel claims to have sorted the android os bug, where by in battery usage you get quite a large percentage dedicated to android os. Not unreasonable to be taken up by this I've always thought so I've just lived with it.

Anyway I've tried the latest beta build and my handset has been on over 16 hours half of which was on standby overnight.

My android os? 2%!
That's the lowest I've ever seen it.
Battery only went down 1% overnight too.
early signs are very promising.
this kernel just gets better and better.

I know this should go in all things root but I thought this is quite a fundamental potential bug fix, everyone should be made aware of it. For those of you still sat on the rooting fence this may just be the decider for you.

Hey man sounds good is this a Rom? Can you post a pic of it would love to see what it looks like

i am back on 2.3.3 ke7 UK, can i use this kernel with this or is there something special i need to do

After your excursion into flashing in your post here:-

http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2-international/426392-helllppp-boot-loop.html

I would recommend reading everything in the Siyah forum first before attempting to flash an experimental, beta, kernel.

[KERNEL][2.3.5] SiyahKernel v1.8beta4 - No more AOS bug... - xda-developers

:D

Beta means that it is still at the testing stage and is not ready for general release and I would not recommend it for novices.

Hahaha!

Trust me! It's for your own good. You'll thank me later. It's all well and good trying these experimental/beta ROM's, kernels and app's so long as you know the risks and how to get yourself out of trouble.

With all due respect MrBaker22, after your other post, I felt that this just may not have been the case. I could be wrong. :D

im glad theres kind experienced users like you out there to get us novices out of problems when we mess it up:)

very new to all this so please show mercy lads...:)

with you experts saying this is finally solved now
can someone point out to how install this kernel / rom without voiding the warranty?
I have been waiting for months for an official fix but I see that Samsung are a pile of shit. I recently had 2.3.4 from kies, GS2 on Thee UK

details on the photos enclosed. I notice watchdog lite does not show the suspend process - just base system - linux process, am I suffering from the bug discussed?

Thanks

Nick

Flashing this kernel will void your warranty I'm afraid.

by randomly reading about flashing roms I picked up something about some jig tool that recovers a thing called binary counter? not applicable here?

In the event of making a call on your warranty you would have to flash back to your handsets original kernel and ROM (presuming that the problem you had did not preclude this) and then obtain a jigfrom, say, ebay and use this to reset the counter.

Have tired the siyah kernel1.8 beta version and found it caused loads of lag. Interesting how we all get different experiences. Back to stock kernel and lag gone again

if i can unbrick from whatever mess I get into during the process and there is a way to reset the warranty i'd me tempted to root yes, then I could also use an app out there to remove the sim lock that I currently cannot use as unrooted.
if I were to choose a rom, I would go with any unbranded samsung generic version, before I try custom ones.
any help on how to obtain any of the above would be muh apreciated
thanx
nick
