No more android os "bug"

Sorry if I sound thick... but are you rooted at the moment?

Do you have SuperUser and CWM in your app drawer?

Do you live in Sweden and are on H3G Nordic?

if anybody is sounding thick it is me fella.
I am not rooted, the phone has never been hacked in anyway. I bought on contract with three and it came with 2.3.3. then I had a ota update which I believe brought the os bug, I upgraded to 2.3.4 via kies last week. all this time I waited for this update thinking it will fix the issue but it hasnt
now I am relaly pissed off as people are saying 2.3.5 doesn't either and my battery lasts half a day sometimes, so want to fix it myself
i mess about with flashing my sat nav but no experience in phones, i am quick learner though, willing to try new things as long as i can back up existing setting and can return to the waranty status

:DIf you type in the following on your dial pad...

You get 4 lines of info up.

What does it say exactly after CSC : ?

UPDATE

Sorry mate, time is against me.

Follow the instructions to flash using Odin 1.85 under the heading FLASHING FIRMWARE WITH ODIN. See here:-

[ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KG1/2/3/5/6/7, KH1/2/3/4, KI1/2/3/4/8 Download - xda-developers

There is a firmware available for 3 handsets on KI4 2.3.5 that you can download from here:-

Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

Hope this helps.

Sorry, I am on Three UK
I9100H3GKI1

The guide above, using Odin will give you 3 firmware on 2.3.5.

Confusion about Sweden is my fault as I was looking at NE code for 3. Sorry!

Just download and install Odin. Download and unzip firmware .zip. Place the 3 .zip's in their relevant slots in Odin and connect your phone via USB.

Follow the instructions and video in the post.

Good luck! :D

2.how do I archive current kernel / rom that I bring back later to claim warranty if i need to?
3.will this bring the horrible exclamation mark that people mention at boot?

I am a bit confused now, I think the file you sent is for the stock rom that I am on now. please check attachment.
what would i gain by flashing it?
rooting the phone?
getting rid of the bug?
or you have given me the back up that i needed to restore to if i got into trouble by flashing the beta version of this kernel that solves the aos bug?
sorry guys i am so new to this..

I am trying to give you a good working edition of the "3" firmware you tried to flash via Kies.

I would suggest doing a Factory reset before flashing the firmware via Odin to get rid of any detritus from your present flash.

This will wipe your phone but you will be able to re-sync your contacts and calendar via Google as well as most of your app's, via the Market.

Hope this helps. :D

Seems too to be fab so far after a full charge it took 15 mins of light of semi light use to drop 1% then left it over night just screen off but with things in background and in 9 hrs only dropped 12%

I noticed there is a .tar and a .zip, which one do I need to install on my phone?

I guess I just install this the same way I would install a normal zip, through clockwork zip from sd card etc...

Thanks

12% drop over night?

I have bluetooth and wireless on all of the time, and when I go to bed I turn the screen off, and the phone only drops about 2% over night (8 hours). This is without the latest Siyah too...

Siyah 1.8rc4 is up!

Hope this solves some of the issues.

This kernel is not for novices.

Siyah 1.7.8 is OK though. :D

UPDATE

1.7.8 seems to have been removed from the post.

(Do keep up Richie101!) :D

now you have approved siyah 1.7.8 would i benefit from it if i stayed on ke7 2.3.3 and installed this kernel?

or would i be better too flash to a newer firmware and then install this kernel ?

Oh MrBaker22

Only joking. The fact of the matter is...

1. I do not know how suitable it would be for firmware 2.3.3 (I'm running 2.3.5). Perhaps someone on here knows the definitive answer to that.

2. As per my update, I've just noticed that all prior versions of the kernel have been removed.

3. You could try the very good, and fast, Ninphetamine 2.1.3 kernel which is based on KG5 and "should" work. You can read about it and download the CWM .zip from here:-

[Kernel][GPL][XXKG5] NEW SOURCES Ninphetamine-2.1.3 - Now with 100% less Samsungyness - xda-developers

Not definitive, but it's running very nicely on 2.3.4 (KG6).

Not sure I'd advise it with something as dated as KE7 though, as there are sure to have been many changes to the OS code since then. There again, with a nandroid backup you could take the risk knowing you've got a get-out clause if you end up in bootloop/force-close hell.

Just, whatever you do, bring any questions here rather than post there. Read the thread and you'll understand why....

How true... they are, how shall I put it... "They take no prisoners!"... Christians and lions come to mind. :D
