No more android os "bug"

thanks :)
Once again i can see why my friend recommended this site :D

Would this be the same friend who told you not to do a full wipe?

Now that you are rooted and have CWM (for Backup/Restore and kernel installing) life should be easier for you now.

Just take it slowly... read up on whatever you are doing... use the "Search this Forum" button on here (the chances are that someone has already asked the same question and had it answered)... and if all else fails... try and catch some of us when we haven't been drinking!

Good luck! :D

yes it was that friend indeed lol

I shall take it slowly and carefully

Thanks again

I'm finding this kernel pretty good.
I'm not one into o/c and u/v at the moment so I'm using this kernel raw.
Finding battery life very good with typical 1% drain overnight over about 8 hours out so.
I found it wasn't updating su and cwm but I deleted /data/.siyah/root install and it all updated on the next install of the zip. Cwm now blue text and new ui to su.

I still have a copy of siyah 1.7.8 if anyone needs it.

Edit: just noticed he's put cwm back to 4.0.0.2. I'll have to do some more reading...

i'm a bit frustrated coz everyone seems to love this kernel, and am keen to start dabbling with the overclocking/undervolting etc

BUT i still get a lot of screen lag on the latest siyah kernel, and I couldnt get BLN to work either.

so back to stock kernel again. unless anyone can suggest why i might be getting lag with siyah on revolution????

I'm not getting lag.
I did however get a problem with bln. Clear cache+davlik cache and uninstall + reinstall the bln app if that fails

never mind horlicks ironass in this weather you need wd40 lol your getting rusty new update is out

Touche Richie101!

Here at the, "Home for the Terminally Befuddled", it's tea time... crumpets today! :)

hawker!... I thought you were on honeymoon?

No butty. Stag weekend last week. wedding 22nd then marmaris the following week.

notice 1.8 proper is up now. This has cwm 4.0.0.2
V5 having issues with backup + restore and let's face it, this is what you want it for!

So far... so good with this, "stable" release.

I got a few freezes on 1.8rc3 but 1.8rc4 and this stable version seem OK.

Like you hawker, I had a problem with BLN which, thanks to you, I have now resolved.

Curse you hawker for bringing this kernel to my attention. All I've done today, and yesterday, is flash the various Siyah releases. My phones been up and down like a fiddlers elbow! :)

Got a good mind to stop digging your escape tunnel. :D

No don't stop doing that butty. Once I've cleared my dalvik cache I'll want out! :D

I'm finding experimenting with kernels much more interesting than roms. Its all brought me back took my old unix programming days. I spent the 90's programming in unix. I might try getting my hands on some source and give it s go myself. Watch out for HawkerKernelV1.00! :D

Need help it says Siyah auto calibrates battery but used Root Explorer and can not find the calibration file

I believe the way it does it is to simply wipe the battery stats file (much as you can do in CWM Recovery) so that you start with a clean slate.

I abandoned the use of my Battery Calibration app in favour of letting it do its thing.

Why am I not filled with confidence at this moment?

Didn't know that you knew Richie101's last girlfriend hawker! :D

Well I wanted it to do its thing but for life of me I can't see the file its meang to create also hmm my battery drained quicker than in rc4 may go back

Whoa! steady on there big boy!

It takes 2 or 3 cycles at least before the battery sorts itself out.

"Q: do I need to recalibrate the battery after?
A: battery will be calibrated automatically. if you need to calibrate the battery again, just remove /data/.siyah/battery-calibrated file and reboot. charge at least 6 hours to make sure your battery is full during the calibration."

Q: How does the automatic battery calibration work?
A: Each time you install a new wipe rom, /data partition will be reformatted and you will need to do the calibration again as you lose the calibration data. Automatic battery calibration will wait until your battery is full and delete the battery calibration file to restart the calibration cycle. a new file in /data/.siyah/battery-calibrated will be created. if you want to redo the calibration just delete that file. it is automatic which means you just forget about the calibration. your phone will not be calibrated if it is off. use it normally, leave it connected to charger for several hours and it will be calibrated.

Are you using a governor in SetCPU?

You may need to adjust it to, say, Conservative.

Ahh its wierd tho as I had a look and no file was created will get setcpu I had it but got rid of it found it way over my head

There may be those who will disagree with me but I believe that once you are in the realms of custom kernels you need something like SetCPU or Daemon to be able to adjust the settings to your liking and usage. Otherwise you are just left with whatever settings the kernel developer thinks fit. A bit like having a custom ROM with no tweaks.

Siyah v2.0 Beta2 is now up.
Testing as we speak....

It seems to have scrubbed the boot animation and has updated CWM to 5.0.2.6 (which is supposed to be buggy)

Reverting back to 1.8 for now......

First off the blocks as usual. Keep us posted. Even though not had success with this kernel before, will defo test this out once we get the all clear from you paul
