Root First Bionic ROM: UNL3ASH3D-V1.0

On a different note, dHacker just posted that he will no longer be developing for the community, at least temporarily. Here's what he said:

Well I love developing for android and it is fun to me, but this latest rash of ungrateful people asking for ETA's on updates every 10 minutes and asking questions over and over about things that are answered int he OP or by searching the forum is very disheartening. I have decided to just devolp shit for my own personal use for a while. I do this for fun as a hobby not as a JOB and I do not work for you guys. Me and DroidTh3ory make stuff like we want to run it if it doesn't have what you want then I'm sorry but too bad. It's been fun though.

I hope he changes his mind, as this ROM has made me truly appreciate purchasing a Bionic.

I see these posts over at the other forums all the time. It's tough being a dev, modder, themer etc. You gotta have thick skin to deal with some of the users.

Oh man that sucks. It sucks that it has to be that way for a dev doing free work. Charging people for that stuff is one thing, but when they do it for free and dingleberries post that crap about how something sucks and should be done differently or where is that and why can't you do that and when is it done should result in public notifications of home or work address. Then the dev's/modders can go irritate the crap out of them like a 5 year old asking the same questing 40 times in a 5 minute period (yeah, I have one).

after installing rom, i can no longer video chat on google talk/chat with the bionic. is anyone else experiencing the same issue and does anyone have a resolution? much thanks!

Are you coming from 1.4? And did you wipe cache, dalvik cache and format system prior to installing the zip?

i went from stock to 1.2, to 1.4. and yeah, i wiped cache, dalvik, and format system prior to update. it never worked for me even flashing stock to rom 1.2. It would say it's "calling" the other person on gchat for video call but that person never gets the invitation and vice versa.

Just installed it. When I saw the notification power widget I just about broke into song. Imagine - Unl3ash3d, the musical.

Unfortunately the deblue 1.1.1 addition killed the power widget but I can live without that until it is corrected.

Nice work UNL3ASH3D. We are so fortunate to have you. (Where are all the other Droid ROM devs? Doesn't really matter anymore...probably doesn't get any better than this!)

Anyone else having trouble with wifi with the latest update? I keep getting a question mark on my wifi icon after the phone has been asleep and have to reconnect.

Quick question:

How do you backup your contacts etc., since it seems like Backup Assistant is Bye Bye in this ROM?

I always have the problem of duplicates etc. because of my FB and all that good stuff. Could I just export to SD Card, or backup with Google?

Thats always my biggest question how to get my contacts again the way I have them now :o

I was half expecting 1.8 and/or 1.9 today ;-)
Hopefully the devs took the day off to catch their breath!

I always sync my contacts with google. When ever I do a full wipe they automatically sync back up.

Thanks dfib! Seeming to work like a charm now.

One thing I'd like to make everybody aware of though, this "problem" was posted by somebody in another thread. I've added on to that. Of course the reason he had that problem was because he flashed 1.7 and the experience file in the same "session".

So this is a little off topic from the current convo but I ran into a problem today flashing to 1.7.. Flashed it, wiped ALL data and cache.. Rebooted and got to the intro screen. The phone shows no signal and the little "x" is next to the signal bars.. I tried to wire a few more times and swapped LTE sim cards already. Obviouly the phone wont go past this screen because ut needs the data line to re-load everything... The only thing I can do next would be to SBF but this seems to be a little different problem than the usual... Any ideas?

This problem also happens if you do it right, and then do a nandroid backup.

Upon restoring the nandroid backup of 1.7 you will experience the same problem you just described.

I guess that's because a nandroid restore will install both files at once, causing the issue. Just a heads up if you're planning on doing a nandroid backup/restore with 1.7

I have flashed 1.7 and am happy to report that everything is working like a charm.

It's quick, sleek, and has some cool apps built in.

My only complaint, really, is the Gmail skin and the black background on some screens of the phone. Sometimes I'll run into black on black, making text difficult or impossible to read.

Otherwise, running smoothly! :D

I agree with your assessment, and reiterate the need to allow the user to customize colors to suit his or her preferences. I believe user customization will come eventually; in the meantime we have a thoroughly capable and well-thought-out rom for our new toy.

That is my struggle as well. I love this guy's ROM, but have trouble seeing the commands with the grey/black on gray/black. This guy rocks nonetheless and period.

Go into Titanium Backup, longpress on the gmail app, convert it to a user app, uninstall it, and re install from the market, the skin is gone, this is what I did.
