I am rooted and running stock. I just ran an update on Superuser and now it keeps force closing. Since it force closes none of my apps for root are working (titanium root, etc) how do I fix this issue?

That happened to me also today , I played around with it a few minutes and did a restore from titanium backup ,, ( hold the volume, power and camera buttons down at the same time with the phone turned off , it will come back on .keep holding the 3 buttons until a bunch of words start coming up then click restore )got everything back . then I went to super user clicked menu then preference then went down to outdated binary notification and turned that off . Now everything is working again ... I am new to this also so dont know if this is what u needed

same thing for me too can't get to any of my rooted app also the backups of my strock rom with ra won't work either my phone works but i need help getting back to where i was

Do I need to do this in conjunction with the restore or doing this alone will fix the issue?

Try wiping these first then boot up and try it again. if that don't work you could try and uninstall then re-install. you could go as far as uninstall and download the flashable zip and flash it in recovery too.

I read somewhere that its a known issue, and just revert back to a known working version till another update is released (prolly very soon) Hope this helps !

OK. I hope this question isn't as dumb as it sounds but how do you uninstall SU? I can't get Titanium Backup to work (obviously) and in the application settings there's no option to uninstall.

Hmmm... Interesting... I have the option to "uninstall updates" under settings/applications/su.... Guess you could try searching for it in the market, and uninstall from there?

I can uninstall updates from the application manager but I can't uninstall the app. My understanding is I need to uninstall SU before I attempt to flash the zip female recovery. Otherwise wouldn't it just keep the binary update that's causing problems? I'm not sure about this so someone correct me if I'm wrong. I've tried clearing the cache and dalvik, uninstalling updates, clearing data from application management area, everything I can think of short of rebooting from recovery. I did manage to get Titanium Backup working, but that's as far as I've gotten. I have sent an email to the dev. If I hear anything I will post it for anywhere near else with the same issue. In the meantime if anyone else comes across a solution please report back. Thanks...

not exactly sure what the issue is now that you have tb working again. why do you need to uninstall su for?

strange i updated mine the other day......but never got any issues. Honestly i didnt even know SU was available in the market till it said there was an update for it lol

If I'm running stock rom still, how would I reflash it? Do I reflash the older SU as well? Will this help?

actually that is not a bad idea about flashing the su file. try that first.

then if that is a no go then i would suggest that you flash mikg2.56 instead of the stock rom. it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better then stock. it is very fast and stable and of course with all of mik's roms everything works. try it out just make a nandroid backup and wipe data, dalvik cache and cache and flash it. you can get it in the rom/kernel sticky.

The steps that finally fixed it:
1. Download SU flashable zip from Gingerbread rooting OP to the SD root.
2. Boot into recovery.
3. Wipe cache/dalvik.
4. Flash SU zip
5. Reboot.

All seems to be working fine now (fingers crossed).

TWO questions...what version of SU is this??

Secondly, what is the process for making a flashable zip of an APK?? Titanium Backup will create one of itself through the app itself...how does one go about creating a flashable zip for another app??

I just received the notification showing "#" in the top left of screen. It said I need to update the binaries when I clicked it. I decided not to update after reading this thread. Is there any harm in not updating Superuser. I just figure if its not broke dont fix it....

I just fixed my Su since it kept crashing, and now my setcpu says it is granted from superuser, but I can't get the smartass setting anymore. It's like the phone isn't rooted with it on there. Anyone know what I could do for this?

I have not updated my superuser either. If it ain't broke don't fix it. It seems this update is a bit buggy for EVOs and some other phones. I would wait until another one rolls out and see how the phone reacts.

If you have an old nandroid you can open it up with 7zip, navigate to the system/app folder and find the su.apk. copy this to your SD card delete the buggy version, use estrongs or your file manager app of choice and find the Su.apk, click and install.
That "should" downgrade your Su to an older stable version. I'm not sure if there are any older versions floating around that you can flash from recovery or install. :(

EDIT: I should read the whole thread before posting. lol :D

Download SU from the new revolutionary root guide, flash it from recovery. Easy Peezy.
