***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Did Razr pass FCC already? I haven't seen that yet. If so, I can see the possibility of releasing within couple of weeks of announcement. But most sources before said Razar is supposed to be out around holiday season.

And if it's releasing so soon as you say, why there is still no solid spec on Razr? Most sources said it has qHD screen, 1.2Ghz OMAP4430, so I'm going by that. And most of all, it will have gingerbread and Blur UI even if hardware is close to Prime.

I didn't say it was releasing soon. All I did was question why you think it isn't releasing until the end of Nov. And yes you are right there aren't any solid specs on the Razr but there really aren't any solid specs on the Prime either. I also don't know if the Razr has gone through the FCC yet but apparently the Verizon version of the Prime hasn't yet. So seeing as how neither has probably gone through the FCC yet, neither has an solid, confirmed specs, neither has been officially announced (but at least the Razr has an official announcement scheduled), and neither has an official release date you can't really put one as better than the other or say one will be out way before the other. For all we know right now the HTC Vigor could be better than all of them.

To be honest my biggest interest in the Prime is coming with ICS. I think specs wise a lot of these phones will be similar, at least the Vigor and Prime will be fairly close. I'm most curious to compare the Vigor's supposed SLCD HD display vs. the Prime's AMOLED HD pentile display.

+ freaking 1

Edit: The lack of quad-core probably means it's coming early 2012.

I can't do this anymore, guys. I just can't.

It's been a great ride on the crazy train. I will miss you all.

Ta ta.

Forever.

Man up soldier!!

So think more next time when you type next post, cause next time it may be someone tougher than poor, little jungle cat. Re-think your sense of humor. Preaching me to go sleep isn't sweet. Dude.

MODERATOR NOTICE

Ok, AndroidForums - unlike other sites - has an official position on all this.

We attack issues and not each other.

Sounds like you're feeling under attack, Thejungle. OK, when that happens in future, please note that next to every post on the web (and by special button with our app) there is a button labeled !Report.

Tap that next to any offensive post, it's a hot-line to us -- and tell us the problem.

Then, we'll take action without things getting worse and feelings getting more frayed as is inevitable when this sort of thing tries to get solved publicly.

There is no such thing as a public defense - in reality, those just become attack/counter-attack -- and we are downers on that.

We have effective means to sort this out - bring the parties together if there's been miscommunication or private effective sanctions if our rules here have been broken.

We can't know that until we chat - so on this, this subject is closed publicly, please send a private message to myself, Steven58 or UBRocked (or all of us, we don't care) and we'll happily consider the matter further.

All members here have a right to the basic dignities we promise inherently in our rules, links in my sig.

But I can simplify our rules in a heartbeat -

  • Attack issues not each other
  • Stay mostly on-topic
  • Please be polite

And everyone's free to make fun of how I express myself, but our deal is that we're all going to be excellent to one another here.

Thanks in advance to all concerned for working with us on this.

Public replies to this will be politely deleted as off-topic, please use private messaging - cheers, thank you.

There won't be today. It's a federal holiday. That's why I'm sitting on my butt at home.

Well I have to laugh at myopic viewpoints that can't conceive of usage patterns different from their own. :p

Yes, if you can reduce the time it takes to render some complex scene from an hour to 45min, or speed up some complex analyses from 8hrs to 6hrs, then the overclocking could give a healthy increase in productivity.

And not everybody is gaming on low-resolution monitors, so maybe overclocking the CPU and/or GPU means the difference between playability and a slide show on someone's beautiful 30" LCD. Not to mention, maybe they have an older system and can't afford new hardware, so the only way to get decent frame rates is by overclocking.

Yes, but i'm not comparing p3s or p4s. Of the small percentage of people who overclock of that percentage, do you really think less than 5% are doing it to increase productivity? They are obsessed with numbers. They want the FPS that they'll never notice but just to brag or whathave you. The arguement then goes on with whats the point of over clocking a phone? What is so crucial that you need to shave seconds off of doing something...on a phone?

@EarlyMon: I hadn't seen all of the episodes of Cowboy Bebop until recently. Before then, I had only seen all but the last three, I'd say. And every time I see your av, I'm reminded of how I was so in love with the series and Spike, only to find out he dies. I felt like the Russian guy from Running Scared, the one who was all about John Wayne. I still love the series, and it really couldn't have ended any other way, imo.

Sorry, off topic, I know. Nice av EarlyMon.

Han, I know you've read all 5361 posts like I have. You storming out now would be like leaving in the third reel of an epic movie... you KNOW you gotta see what happens next and how it ends! We all love ya anyway :)

Hints of next year's phones do nothing to pull me away from the Prime. My OG Droid is WAY overdue for retirement and she's NOT, repeat NOT, gonna wait until summer 2012 to see what the new shiny is. By then, hints of the winter superphones will be out. It just never ends! Well, hopefully MY journey will end on November 3rd.

At LEAST for a year or so...

Might I add an emphatic DITTO

Like the specs of the Prime - you just never know about what really happened to Spike.

...Bang! ;)

Okay okay, you're right that lots of people overclock for the sake of producing big numbers that don't mean anything whatsoever in the real world. But it's harmless and not much different from people who put ginormous spoilers and fart mufflers on their civics w/o actually improving the engine or suspension.

FWIW, there are legitimate reasons to improve application response time (see here and here).

Is there any reason to believe the Prime is going to come with a Pentile display?

The Galaxy S 2 uses a traditional RGB stripe...

No more reason than there is to believe it will have one processor over another...

Maybe I should have clarified...

I know this is all speculative. I was curious if there had been any source that had indicated it was Pentile, or if this was an assumption because the Galaxy S phones were Pentile.

it will be pentile. but at that resolution, you probably won't notice
