Back on the Nexus front, do you guys find it odd that all three phones that are believed (at least by me) to have been contenders for the Prime:

1. RAZR

2. VIGOR

3. GALAXY NEXUS

are all under so much secrecy? We've had leaked pics of all three, but precious few details on internal specs.

Could it be that during the evaluation phase with Google, all three handsets were put under severe NDA's way back when, and are still in place?

I just find it very hard to believe that all three phones are so secretive.

Hmmm....I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no. Not sure Verizon is that savvy. I truly believe VZ_wired is risking his JOB to give us anything at all.

I've always thought that these little leaks come from either Verizon or manufacturers.

The video (or was it the pic?) leaking on the same day as the Apple announcement was pretty fishy to me.

But I doubt VZ's being instructed by anyone. It seems like he's trying to keep us encouraged without actually revealing anything of substance because he's scared to death. Him warning me about my sister losing her job kind of proved that to me.

Watch it: Verizon is going to play up the RAZR to the hilt: media blitz, big signs in the windows, arrows in the store pointing to the device and reps saying "OOOH you gotta buy this phone!"

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy-Nexus-Prime will be played down, sitting all alone, virtually ignored. Why? Verizon's preferred relationship with Motorola. All because of the locked bootloader issue and the relative difficulty in removing VZW bloatware from Moto phones.

I'd almost bet a paycheck on this scenario.

I knew N__ P___ won't be so beast with 1.2 GHz, and I see you're rather disappointed with SGS III and RAZR specs. Yeah, NP needs more power to be the beast.

AND NOW, I believe one - every single person who handled this device says one (and it is quietly common) word which describes it - THE BEAST! I hardly believe it is much better than 1.5, especially as VZ_Wired sais - it was chosen to win GAME and ENTERTAINMENT prize!

I just find it very hard to believe that all three phones are so secretive.

It seems like this year all the launch timings got frakked up among the manufacturers and now they're all scrambling to get their hardware with the right service providers to maintain market share.

The video was an official Samsung leak as I understand it. They even uploaded it to their official YouTube account.

As to your second point of keeping us encouraged without revealing anything. Well that is EXACTLY what Verizon would want to do don't you think?
But yeah I also sincerely appreciate all the effort Vz_Wired is making for us. Thanks!

Exactly. I'm willing to bet that wires got crossed somewhere and the source was talking about a release on November 3. That date has been rumored in too many places to have it just be a rescheduled announcement.

I'd expect to hear something about an announcement some time this week.

I don't see it. Nexus IS a Samsung phone, not Moto. I think the Nexus is way too far into production to just cancel it now. Sammy would lose millions.

Don't forget about the Vigor! And the Revolution 2 is due out soon too... I think Husker has been theorizing about the Vigor, RV2, RAZR, and the Prime being conteders for the Nexus crown. This is a logical explanation for all of these great phones at once. It seems to me that this holiday season is a rare moment when VZW customers will be the true winners in the phone wars.

I wouldn't worry about it, Chief. They made a big spectacle of announcing the girl phone, and that's a mid-range device at best.

This will get a lot of play on TV, etc. Especially from Samsung.

I suppose that's possible, but highly unlikely. They'd probably get their pants sued off by Samsung. I think approval of device through to manufacturing and release is a train that can't easily be stopped. And Google choosing Motorola because of the new partnership doesn't enter into it. That partnership hasn't been approved yet and is going through the stages. You might see a Moto Nexus next year, but not this time.
