Root Cm7.1

Fishyweb

Just installed the official released CM7.1. Seems to me that they have done a great job on it; it is very much faster than 7.1rc1. Well worth trying.

I know this is probably a really stupid question but can you upgrade to 7.1 without wiping the phones data first (currently 7.03)?

I updated from 7.0.3 to 7.1rc1 without wiping the data, and then from 7.1rc1 to 7.1, again without wiping the data. I dare say you'd be fine going straight from 7.0.3 to 7.1 without wiping. Take a nandroid first, of course ;-)

i tried to do this last night- but ran into quite q bit of trouble trying to reinstall all my stuff from titanium backup-

i ended up with it constantly showing me the lock screen -- and titanium backup kept freezing mid process causing me to have to re-boot the phone

so i went back to the old CM7 :-(

you were not restoring system apps were you

i was basically trying to restore everything i had backed up, so yes that could well be the case.
only restore user apps with data
not system stuff or messages/apns/music playlists etc.
it will will cause problems with any rom

hi
is this rom ok ?
have got it ready to install but wondered if it is ok or should i stick with oxygen for the time being ?
i no it all about personal tastes but would like i quick view on it if poss

thanks

CM is the only custom ROM I've tried, and I've not found any reason to look beyond it - it works well for me. Faster han stock HTC, and I think battery life is better. I've found apps on the market to replace all the HTC specifics that I used to use. Most importantly, I now have no problems with internal memory space.

This is all very subjective and personal, though, as you correctly state.
