Well there is one feature they can take out , A phone that talks back to me. I curse out my Tom Tom now. I can just image what the phone would say back to me after I blast it with a few verbs.:D

Nice catch, xtop!

shocking news

Murtazin: Google delaying Nexus Prime/ICS because of Apple patents (Update: No) | 9to5Google | Beyond Good and Evil

Update: He’s wrong. We’ve heard from an impeccable source that Google plans to have invites out “in the next day or so and there is no patent delay.

*cough*

I claim that no such last-minute takedown of ICS code or features is happening due to anything involving Apple patents, because it's irrational.

Period.

That's my opinion.

By the way - I could be right. I often am. ;)
:D I crack me up with that attitude, sorry. :D

Srsly, I am happy that that is laid to rest now.

A commentor on Droid life that is usually spot on (zepfloyd) is saying announcement in 2 weeks then release about a week later. Claiming still no delay.

To me that sounds like the rumored Oct. 27 announcement and Nov 3rd release!

I hope google teases it at CTIA like they did the Xoom and Nexus S before their announcements.

Glad to hear him chime in about the issue. If he thinks it's garbage, I'm backing that idea...

iPhone 4S VS. Android Benchmarks Posted: Even The Galaxy S II Is Getting Smoked (For Now, At Least)
Funny the i4s is clocked at 800mhz and still smoking these higher clocked dual cores. This worry anyone?

Not really.

In this business, there will always be ups and downs regarding benchmarks.

If I were shopping Apple, I'd insist on knowing what the maximum screen update rate is.

Last I saw, all of our phones are maxing at standard line frequencies - read: 60 Hz.

And when asked why, earlier this year, that phones benchmarking 70 to 90 fps were such dogs, it came out that it's a really silly idea to have something on one side of the fence trying to crank out more screen updates/second than the screen can handle.

That said, the iPad 2 is just way pretty good at things, so I think we'll have to see what comes of that idea, again.

OBTW - I'm impressed that benchmarked 70+ fps at 720p, off-screen.

What does it really mean - off-screen?

See what I hate about the benchmarking blogosphere? ;)

PS -

My but someone likes to toot a horn, and preferably their own! ;)

You bet. I am on record on these forums that I believe in shameless self-promotion. :D

I'm also on record as being pretty gracious when I'm wrong, and I often am that, too. ;)

However, the main thing, is that with nearly 8k thanks given out, I like to toot everyone's horn! :)

Hey, Han - toot toot! :D

I'm sorry, but I just don't get it. How often do people make restaurant reservations? I don't think I've gone to a place that requires a reservation in a year or more. And when I did, I wouldn't have trusted OpenTable or any online reservation site; I called it in and talked to a real person to ensure I got to sit where I wanted to sit.

You either don't go out to eat on prime nights (Friday/Saturday especially), don't live in a big city, don't go to good restaurants, or some combination thereof.

Unless I'm eating early on a Mon/Tues/Wed, I always make reservations and walk in ahead of the line of people standing in front of me.

Incidentally, your lack of "trust" in OpenTable is not really valid in my experience. I have made numerous reservations online and they've all been perfect.

Anything that says "BGR" at the top is a dead giveaway.

However, on the flip side, I must point out that they're the first ones who leaked that the Prime would be exclusive to Verizon, and that appears to hold up. So, who knows. Maybe they're just having an off-6 months.

I'm still hoping for a FCC report today or tomorrow. I would think they had to submit the phone for testing well before the planned announcement with how slowly government agencies work sometimes. Since the gsm version was there already, I can't imagine the cdma version would trail that fair behind.

Heh, well me neither. But the dinner reservation thing is just an example. If you call people and schedule events w/them and navigate to their addresses etc, it's convenient to be able to do it seamlessly.

But I've never really wanted to use voice commands except when driving. No idea whether this will catch on. Do we really want offices and elevators and buses and restaurants full of people talking to their phones? :(

Yeah I was initially freaked out, but then read that it's mainly showing the native pre-ICS Android browser has been crap. Use Opera or Dolphin or whatever and the Android scores go wayyyyyy up. But kudos to Apple for having a nice running browser come standard.

I feel the same way about the FCC issue. Who knows, It may have passed and the dox are not to the public yet.

I'm still betting on Nexus Prime (Cellebrite) or Droid Prime for the US. Galaxy Nexus seems to be attached to every euro leak -- so my guess is that is the ROTW name. Ergo all these rumors about dates related to Galaxy Nexus from people in Europe sound like they are about the Galaxy Nexus being released there...

EXACTLY what I think! +1 Brilliant minds think alike. ;)

I live in the greater LA area. I just know which restaurants to go to that are 1) really good and 2) possibly slightly unknown?

Many places we go to around here don't take reservations at all.

OpenTable cannot get you the seat you want, period. If I want to sit in the Vampire Grotto at The Stinking Rose, I have to call it in.

End point: Siri is a silly gimmick for more iSheep to yell "LOOK AT MEEEE, I'm talking to my phoneee!"

so it's the day the Nexus Prime should have been announced... im kinda waiting for some more infos from vz_wired, so that this day isn't such a big 'disappointment' (besides the new 'small' leaks, but those don't offer anything concrete, no exact date or spec)

come on, give us what we want :D

So what do you make of this line of argumentation?
As Samsung Galaxy S II Wins T3′s Phone of the Year Award, Samsung UK Confirms “Nexus Prime” Coming Sooner Than We Think
I hope it's all wrong, but I just don't trust Verizon at all unless it comes to screwing up what could have been a great phone.

I hope the Nexus Prime or whatever it's going to be called arrives completely untouched by Verizon group think programming hacks.
