***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

what would be the purpose of having a non removable battery The SD card I really don't care about that much but I like the idea of having a removable battery after being with apple since the 2G-4 and carrying an extension cable and extra batteries

Is this for a fact ?

The purpose would be mostly space savings. If they don't have to design a removable battery door and a special compartment to house the battery where the user won't accidentally damage the internals, they get more room inside.

NOTHING is a fact here. Don't take ANY of this as fact. There are no facts except we know a new Nexus phone is coming - that's ALL we know.

I think it has also been mentioned somewhere in here that if there is the word "Nexus" anywhere in the name that the updates would come straight from Google. I respectfully disagree.

ONLY if the "Nexus" is the FIRST word will updates come from Google. If it's just a Galaxy Nexus? Then I would imagine that updates would come from Samsung through Verizon.

I know, I know, it's all semantics... but IMPORTANT semantics. If it's a Nexus Prime? Pure Google Experience. Galaxy Nexus? No telling what we're gonna get.

hi i am a first time poster in these forums. signed up to share my little bit of knowledge.

i can confirm that the nexus prime will rock a TI cpu for sure, as in 100%.
this comes from a very reliable source. also the phone is said to be still buggy as hell and samsung and google are working overtime to fix all bugs before release.

all i know.

enjoy speculating until our dream is unveiled.

good morning guys. :)

curious how you jumped to this conclusion

It's not important semantics. I guarantee that Google would not allow the Nexus branding of any phone without the associated Nexus "experience" of a vanilla build, Google updates, etc.

Is that fact? No, of course not. It's my opinion. But it would be absolutely absurd of Google to dilute their Nexus branding for no good reason. They won't do it. No way. There are about a thousand reasons why it'd be a bad idea, and virtually no reasons why it'd be a good idea.

If it's called a Nexus phone, it'll be a Nexus phone. Take it to the bank.

Nice dude, but until you back that up with some credentials it's hard to take it as anything more than another rumor... welcome to the forums though. :)

Welcome to the crazy train. I'm certainly concerned about bugginess. I guess I could see it as problematic as when HC came out, but I'm hoping it's not too bad. Hopefully being a Nexus, Google can update it frequently to patch any issues.

Welcome to the forums, elye! :)

Any and all info is appreciated... but yeah, we do like to vet our sources. I know you're not going to reveal how you know this to us, but could you possibly PM our illustrious mod Steven58 with that? Perhaps you can explain to him, behind closed virtual doors, how you know this to be true.

Anyway, OMAP is not a BAD processor I guess... but what's so buggy about it?

Wasnt really joking about the battery... Just being honest with that amount of power you ain't getting bb all day batt life.. #truth

Damn, I want a phone with killer battery life...:(

wooooooooooooooow no i'm not, im a boy...

why do you think i'd be a girl?

Dunno. From your picture I thought you were a German flight attendant. But I also thought CK was a girl at first, so my radar is way off. :p

That's why I think its the Exynos as well. Gaming and Entertainment is very specific and that is what they have been touting with the Exynos.

We'll see soon enough

Yes, madam, we will. And soon, too! :)

does anybody else think that it is really weird for google and Sammy to announce this phone in hong kong?

No. Canceling their appearance at CTIA made them scramble to find a good place to announce this as soon as possible. I still think they made a simple job a whole lot more difficult with the postponement, but oh well. Here's hoping it's Hong Kong or before.

Samsung Nexus Prime pops up at a retailer's web page in Singapore

It says 1.5ghz Exynos! Here is hoping to it since GSM anera rumor.

Looks like an attention hog. Too bad, too. Those specs would be great.

So, is this a clue that the the rumors we heard about about a battery we can't can't remove being true? Aren't most SD card slots located in the battery compartments? I know they are in HTC devices. Maybe that's why no SD slot, you can't get to the battery area??
Just a thought
On second though this may not be entirely true because the device will still need a slot for the sim card for 4G??

I highly doubt the battery wouldn't be removable. I don't think I've ever seen an Android battery like that.

I think it has also been mentioned somewhere in here that if there is the word "Nexus" anywhere in the name that the updates would come straight from Google. I respectfully disagree.

I hope you're as wrong as an adorable 6 year old girl accidentally snapping her puppy's neck, Chief.

And I must respectfully disagree. Nexus is so synonymous with a "Google Phone" that it would border on false advertising if updates didn't come straight from them. It'd be like selling a Motorola Droid iPhone, loaded with iOS 5 but subject to Moto's updates.

Oh, and good morning to everyone! Hope you've had your first cup of joe. It's going to be a long day, I think.

:)

This is not directed at elye, but I REALLY don't understand how experienced manufacturers and developers can have so many problems. Samsung has made, what, dozens of Android phones? And they know what goes into making them work (or not work) surely by now. And yes, I will continue to call you Shirley.

Clearly there is something about this process I don't understand, but I have a hard time believing that every-single-model they build is a complete ground-up design that requires tweaking to eliminate bugs. I have a hard time understanding why they aren't using the last model that wasn't completely effed up and make changes to it as needed (e.g. evolution, instead of complete abiogensis).

IDK, but it's frustrating to hear about this since build quality and OS integration has been a persistent issue among Android phones.

Did Google trademark the word "Nexus" or something? Nexus isn't really a trademark or "created" word... not sure how they could copyright it... not like "Droid", which IS a trademarked word from Lucasfilm.

oh, did anyone expect anything but bad battery life? we're looking at a phone with a huge screen and lte lol

Uh, No one here will EVER, EVER back up anything they say with credentials. I mean, what do you want, a scanned picture ID card? Heh!

Verizon, Samsung, or Google will not register and post anything like that here. Not officially anyways.

Also note the thread title. Speculations and Rumors. Eh?

So....... we read, post, speculate, repeat what we hear and copy & paste what we see. We call BS and cheer on what we want to hear and most of all, "We Wait".

Without that we would be waiting for a TV commercial or our service provider to spam us with the announcement.

Disclaimer: I reserve the right to be corrected if I'm wrong.

If this is heading over to AT&T, are we looking at a $199 or $299 upgrade? I was about to pick up a SGSII but decided to wait on the Prime and see where it's going..!

Disappointing, but not surprising. Powering such a screen, coupled with LTE, it was always going to be a battery hog. That's why I was hoping for a 2000+ mAh in there, but it's mostly likely going to be around 1850 or so.

Oh well. If it's super thin maybe an extended battery won't look so bad on it.

But Steven's source said that the RAZR would have excellent battery life. I know that's all subjective as all get out, but could that be because it's powering a qHD screen instead of a full HD one?

Han, battery life on the Bionic isn't too bad, and it's something like a 1750mA battery I believe. Have been having some issues lately (but I think it's mostly due to the ROM I'm on). I have great LTE coverage in DC so I'm rarely on 3G. With the Prime being just a little larger, I can't believe it would be so bad. Although, the Droid had fantastic battery life. Oh well.

You're right on that one, Chief. Google doesn't own the "Nexus" name.

Google fails to grab Nexus name ? The Register

Still, I stick to what I said about it being so synonymous with Google, I can't imagine that Google would agree to let it be named a Nexus if it was going to dilute their brand recognition. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
