***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I have been a member since I started rooting my OG Droid and I was on that bandwagon pretty early. I do not get to post too much but you guys are very entertaining and informative. Thank you all!

I am a bit confused by some of the speculation about the 4460 being underclocked to 1.2. I would assume that it does not make much sense for stability reasons because is that not the point of using the 4460 over the 4430? I assumed (and likely incorrectly) that the whole point to TI releasing a 4460 was to assure that it had an acceptable failure rate at 1.5. Otherwise why not just overclock the 4430 since it appears there is very little difference between them. The same could be said for the potential for battery life gain, no?

The lack of SD card slot makes little sense to me as well. For that other product it makes business sense because they can sell the larger storage sizes for a higher profit. But if only one model is being released here then I do not see the point. Unless it is to derive profit from the cloud services but then why not make that a feature of Android OS to not support SD expansion?

I am almost 100% upgading to this device as it will be a major upgrade for me any way you look at it. I just cannot deal with a major let down again this fall (I am from Philly and a big sports fan...need I say more ).

I'm right there with you on the sd card slot!

BTW I hope my skins destroy the eagles this weekend :D payback for last year on monday night would be pretty sweet. Not counting on it though lol

This thread is such a study in psychology and sociology! We have different personalities all going in different directions. I've noticed a few trends, most of which I've participated in at some time:

The Believer - Believes the last thing said about a particular topic regardless as to whether it's been disproved or not.

Believer: "The clock speed is going to be 66kHz! That's it I'm getting a Bionic and becoming a priest!"

The Disbeliever - Won't believe anything without concrete proof.

Forum Member: "I heard it has a touchscreen."

Disbeliever: "I'm calling BS on that! Show me where in the specs it says anything about a touchscreen!"

The Dreamer - Doesn't care if how implausible, the NP must have it.

Dreamer: "I think it has the Quantum Temporal chipset which will actually reverse time to make the phone run faster!"

The Arguer - Can't accept anything without debate and will pull out all stops to make a point.

Forum Member: "It should have a good battery."

Arguer: "How can you expect a good battery in a device like this? The last 3.012 phones Samsung released didn't have a good battery and based on a regression analysis which the University of Arizona performed back in 2009......."

Group Think - If someone says it then it must be true and like a herd of gazelles, panic runs rampant.

Forum Member1: "It's clocked at 1.2gHz."
Forum Member2: "It's underclocked!!! What the hell!"
Forum Member3: "Underclocked! Kill the hippie!"
Forum Member4: "Yeah kill the hippie! What a jerk!"
Forum Member5: "The hippie is probably a commie!"
Forum Member6: "Kill the commie hippie!"
Forum Member7: "Why are we killing the hippie?"
Forum Member8: "That commie hippie underclocked our unannounced, unreleased phone!"
Forum Member7: "Oh. Kill the underclocking commie hippie!"

I'm back :D

Did you miss me and my GPU (yeah GPU [for 3d games],not CPU, i guess the OMAP 4460 will have a good CPU-performance)-talk ? :D

OMAP 4470 has 2 low-powered cores and one single 2d-dedicated graphics core...

so this should be (at least) as power efficient as the exynos 4212 with it's 32nm production...

For high performance 2x 1.8GHz Cores + PowerVr SGX544 should be enough for my, too...

Furthermore the OMAP 4470 does support LTE, too.

And as it's already mentioned the 4470 was sampled since 2H 2011, so it's not wrong to keep it as an option :D

In Conclusion: when the NP (GSM-Version for Europe) comes with either the exynos 4212 (which of course would be a little better) or the OMAP 4470 [and of course a microSD-card-slot, i can't use those cloud-applications with my small, limited internet-flat] i'd b a happy buyer :)

[Yeah nothing really new from me, but i had to read ~8 whole pages that i missed while i've been asleep and i already forgot what some of you mentioned on the first f those 8 pages :D]

Ps: 99,9% of my done posts are in this very Thread and 1 single post is in the Thread about whether the NP will be LTE enabled :D

-> I'm a kind of a NP-nerd lol and spend too much of my free time in this thread lol :D

Poor R4yn,
Keep the hope alive, but according to Ti's website, 4470 isn't sampling until Q1 2012. Considering that the 4460 didn't sample until Q1 2011 and we are just now (maybe) going to see a device with it, chances are not good.

I wish I could think more positive like you. :)

i already do :D

also lets not forget about the qualcomm msm8960 ;)

edit: oh and i do have something new for you, nothing big, but maybe better than nothing? :D

that's a case for the nexus prime [listed on the german amazon site], and take a closer look on it.. looks like metal, doesn't it? and of course its the top side is curved, as we already know ;)

I suddenly want to go out and buy a package of Fig Newtons.

So I had 2 prime related dreams last night. One I stumbled upon the user manual online and the other I just randomly had the phone early. I think I desperately need to unplug for a while.....

finally caught up... how long do you people think that it will take for AT&T to get there version?? also the only reason im there is first the discount i get and im grandfathered in so i have unlimited everything.. also im on the primere side because of work so i have all the business relations with them

Good morning everyone.

Back to work and all caught up, but nothing new and exciting this morning. I am sure everyone is watching the web for some news so can't wait for that or more info from reliable sources posted in here!

There was more than one of photos taken by NP, and these are just photos, nothing special about the phone, specifications or Android, just 2 weird guys - it's really nothing special.

Two weird guys? Its Alton Brown (famous) and Denis Lynch (Goggle engineer), lolz....

Is it just me or are the camera shots we've seen from this phone underwhelming?

I'm feeling that way too, between the cam and the processor questions, I may have to wait for the Nexus and Vigor to drop then make an educated decision, but HTC is so miserable with the updates... argh...

Welcome to the show Jimmy. I have to say if you're looking for the latest and greatest, the Prime should be great for you. What are you looking to use it for? Actually a phone, fun and games, email and web? Have you looked into any tablets too? They're a ton of fun for relaxing on the couch, surfing the web or playing some games. However, coming from a non-smartphone, the monthly bill may be a bit to swallow (I know it was for me). But, if your daughter will be covering the costs, go for it!

I love Good Eats!

That's a great picture -- really clear and sharp too. Makes me excited for the camera on this thing though. Honestly looks like a Point&Shoot picture.

It was posted by someone else (R4yN?) a little higher up on the page. But I didn't see the original Picasa gallery link that you posted, so thanks!

Is it just me or are the camera shots we've seen from this phone underwhelming?

The only camera shots we've seen so far have been on Picasa where they auto reduce the resolution to around 3.0 MP. As far as I know, we have not yet seen any photos taken with this phone at their full resolution yet so I'm not going to start panicking until I do.

Though I would say this latest pic looks at least as good if not better than anything my DInc could take with it's 8MP camera.

I actually think the opposite. Not knowing the lighting where the photos have been taken, they look pretty good. Especially the one of the guys in the parking lot at 49ers game. I was amazed at the detail in the gravel. The photos are one of the "pros" of this device for me.
