I'm back :D

Did you miss me and my GPU (yeah GPU [for 3d games],not CPU, i guess the OMAP 4460 will have a good CPU-performance)-talk ? :D

OMAP 4470 has 2 low-powered cores and one single 2d-dedicated graphics core...

so this should be (at least) as power efficient as the exynos 4212 with it's 32nm production...

For high performance 2x 1.8GHz Cores + PowerVr SGX544 should be enough for my, too...

Furthermore the OMAP 4470 does support LTE, too.

And as it's already mentioned the 4470 was sampled since 2H 2011, so it's not wrong to keep it as an option :D

In Conclusion: when the NP (GSM-Version for Europe) comes with either the exynos 4212 (which of course would be a little better) or the OMAP 4470 [and of course a microSD-card-slot, i can't use those cloud-applications with my small, limited internet-flat] i'd b a happy buyer :)

[Yeah nothing really new from me, but i had to read ~8 whole pages that i missed while i've been asleep and i already forgot what some of you mentioned on the first f those 8 pages :D]

Ps: 99,9% of my done posts are in this very Thread and 1 single post is in the Thread about whether the NP will be LTE enabled :D

-> I'm a kind of a NP-nerd lol and spend too much of my free time in this thread lol :D

I think I have agreed with just about every one of your posts. I will also be very pleased with the 4470 if it can not be an exynos 4212 since the 4470 will have the SGX544. I have a strong feeling it will be either an overclocked 4430 or a 4460 with that crappy year old SGX540 essentially making the device a Bionic with an HD screen (ICS will eventually come to everything so that I cannot put that as a "feature").

I personally, would rather have the exynos 4210 at 1.2Ghz with the Mali-400 then the 4460 at 1.5ghz with the SGX540. I just don't understand why they would not use the 4210 over the 4430 or 4460 when it is known to have a much better GPU and would be much more efficient and increase battery life since it is a lower clock speed AND 40nm vs OMAPs 45nm.

Good morning, fellow Primelings!

Sweet, add 1 from Chicago! I agree with the sentiment, not that our stupid Cubs will do anything with him. :( Quade will probably be back, and we'll have another crazy summer with Z. Different GM, same old . . .

Add another from Chi-town. Lincoln Square, baby! But you should know, I AM a Packers fan ;)

I agree with your other point. The nexus has solid hardware and great software....how can I say no to that?!

exactly... samsung fixed the missing LTE-support of the original exynos 4210 [seen in the Galaxy Note], so why the hell do they have to use a so much weaker SoC ?

just one little mistake: samsund exynos 4210 isn't 40nm, it's 45nm, too

That unicorn is still around? I thought that was the RAZR.

I've been watching every news leak on every hypothetical android smartphone for about 6 months, and continually revising a master spreadsheet of specs. I don't *think* it is the same thing. It looks to me that after the Bionic/RAZR releases of this calendar year, there are two "specialty" phones coming from Moto >=2Q12: the Dinara (for camera-philes) and the Maserati (for the slider-philes).

Ooooohhhhh. . . . .

For some reason, I just don't have all that much interest in Moto phones anymore. I don't know, if the Prime lives up to my expectations (which are more modest than many others'), I think I'll fall in love with Old Sammy.

The Bionic'ing of 2011 left a bad taste in my mouth.

Really, no one is excited about the new picture I just posted?

Not excited at all. Kind of bummed, in fact. At least one of the rumors is that the NP will have a very high quality 5Mpixel camera, rather than jumping on the 8Mpixel (and possibly diffraction limited) bandwagon. Maybe this is just something someone made up, given the "DSLR-quality" camera interface on the TI OMAP 4460, but whatever.

Bottom line: that photos looks, well, very much like any old camera phone photo. Kind of like it was shot through a stocking or something. It's really noisy, and not very sharp. Ok, it was a thinner stocking than the tube sock that sits over my OG Droid's camera, but a stocking none-the-less.

Yeah, I have high standards, but I also know it's not impossible to make a cell phone camera that's as good as a cheap dedicated P&S camera. Maybe it's just the seemingly brightly lit indoors -- shouldn't be a challenge, but you never know. Or maybe it was destroyed by Picasa? I'd like to see an original. And a photo shot outside.

But Apple pretty much did it... the iPhone 4 camera didn't completely suck. The iPhone 4S photos (visible here: Apple - iPhone 4S - Shoot amazing photos with the 8MP camera.) as well... they do look like they're shot with a cheap P&S camera. No confusing these with a DSLR or even a top quality P&S. But they don't have that "not even trying" look of most phone cameras. Apple doesn't make any single part of their phone (ok, sure, they actually do design the SOC, but they're currently made by Samsung)... it's not as if other companies can't use similar camera chips. Or, for that matter, better chips.

Encrypted bootloaders left a bad taste in mine.

But if Moto can recapture that lightening in the bottle awesomeness that we got with the OG, and apply that to a new phone concept, I'd be open to even an encrypted bootloader. Oy, now I'm sounding like an iWhore, isn't that how they think <slinks off into a corner now>

How large is this spreadsheet?

That is some dedication right there.

Okay, the photo was taken at 1/30 sec exposure at 320 ISO. What do you expect? Also, I can't glean entirely from the exif, but it looks like it's super compressed. I'm not too worried. I'm a photo enthusiast who loves extreme detail (I only use a Canon G10, but still love it). But, this is a phone camera, it's fine.

Edit: That's at 3 Mega Pixels.

Are you scoping out the other hypothetical smartphone that is supposed to target the camera-phile demographic? I think it's the Dinara.
I hadn't heard the Dinara would be for camera enthusiasts, no. I don't really want to wait until next year to get a phone so I wasn't thinking of the Dinara at all.

That being said, the camera is a deal breaker for me and could be a deciding factor is what phone I do get.

What if the bootloader was unlocked though? Would that be a game changer in considering the RAZR?

I don't know about Steven, but in my opinion, I can't see myself going to quarter HD now that I know full HD is here. samoled or no samoled

Looks like the hype train is slowly dying down..

CMON GOOGLE/SAMSUNG/VERIZON

GIVE US SOMETHING!!

I think this whole delaying thing is a bad move. Sure, we are a pack of rabid animals for this phone, but what about people in the real world? They know either very little or NOTHING about this phone. That's a whole segment of people that may view the iPhone4s as a viable option.

Agreed. No matter how you cut it, not announcing before iPhone's release has cost them millions. Every day that passes without hard, official news is another loss in revenue.

I get the whole respect for SJ thing. But what are you trying to do, give all your money to Apple?
