I played around with a Honeycomb tablet yesterday and it was freaking amazing, now I'm super pumped to see how ICS turns out

It releases in 2 days, how long do you think it'll take before there's an Evo 3d port? It even makes me miss my Nexus S a bit :O

I'll wager 2-3 months after Google announces it.

BTW, what about Honeycomb did you like?

-edit-
moving this out of the root forum, since it's not root-specific.

Well I put it root because I was talking about a ICS-based ROM on the 3vo, not waiting for official support lol

It won't be out in 2 days. The announcement of it was to take place Oct 11th but they have already announced thats been pushed back. ICS won't be out till late Oct/early Nov and the Evo won't see it till sometime next year...

Yeah, I knew that somewhere in my subconscious by I guess I tried to forget it out of excitement lol

Shame, I'm pretty pumped for it

Maybe a ROM like Cyanogen would have it soon after the actual release, but the current CM7 build is not what I would consider a 'daily driver'. It has too many things that don't function (3D, 4G, still getting kinks out of bluetooth, etc) because it's still in alpha phase. It'll get done, and I'm anxiously awaiting it, but it may not get ICS in our build any time soon.

But all the Sense-based ROMs are going to have to wait for HTC to release ICS to us from a normal OTA, break down that OTA, and then update their ROMs to the changes. So, realistically, you're looking at least a week or two after HTC releases it before the Sense-Based ROMs get it.

This is on of the first releases that I am actually not super excited for. It isn't that I don't like trying out new things, but my phone has been working perfectly straight stock. I haven't had a reason to root like I did with our TBolt. For everyone else sake though I hope they release it asap, I know how horrible it is waiting for these things to release.

I agree. The Evo 3D runs very well on stock. Much better than the Evo 4G did. I'm excited for Ice Cream, but I won't be as eager for it as I was for this phone :)

Yeah, just another example of how it's all just so opinion-based.

I've been using CM7 since the first alpha, it's the only ROM i use. I'm in an area without 4g, I think 3d is just a novelty and pretty pointless, and I don't have any use for bluetooth lol

Apparently the ICS build of CM is going to be CM9 (I think CM8 is supposed to be honeycomb, but google won't release source info for that?)

Hopefully done by Xmas :D

Unfortunately for me, I use Bluetooth on a daily basis, 4G on a nearly daily basis, and 3D at least once a week. That kills my desire to play with CM7 until it's closer to being done.

I was more pointing out that it's taking toast a bit of time to build CM7 for the 3D. I understand it takes a lot of time (isn't he building the kernels and such from scratch?), plus there's life outside of the computer and all. And that's for a Gingerbread build. To expect an ICS build of CM on the Evo 3D soon after ICS is released is a rather high hope, IMO.

Yeah, I guess it's a bit unrealistic to expect a finished CM of ICS by xmas (lots of abbreviations lol), but maybe there will be an alpha by then, it didn't take very long at all for an alpha of CM7 to come out after the evo 3d got unlocked

And out of curiosity, what do you use 3d for so often? Do you mean you use the 3d camera mode, or viewing mode?

Htc and Sprint were very fast with Froyo and only delayed Gingerbread to avoid people not buying the 3D, so I have high hopes it'll be out late this year or early next.

Mostly viewing. But whenever I go exploring, I'll take some 3d pictures. I like how it adds a nice accent to the pictures. Like one I took of a tree on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The tree stands out just a little, and you can tell it's a cliff, and the ocean looks so far away.

I take almost all of my photos in 3D. I can view them in either 2D and 3D, and when I share to an outside source, I can choose which mode as well. So I don't see a reason not to always shoot in 3D. Space hasn't been an issue, and I can always offload stuff onto my desktop if I do run low.

this is what I thought I was going to do before I got the phone, but the reason why I don't take everything in 3d is because the 3d pic split into 2 and uploaded onto places like facebook look horrible and really low quality :(

I am guessing ICS might be out by Xmas or January for The E3D. It should get it before any other phone because HTC has a good relationship with Google, and it came out before the other phones, just like the evo 4g last year

I was thinking this also. But since Google is trying to buy Motorola, it might come on the Photon first.

Following the launch event live ... So excited. Source goes live in November? Hopefully it won't be long after that before we get a port ....

Ics looks great, but remember that is vanilla android and sense will be put on top of that. jut sayin
