Yeah but the GSIII will probably go to everyone on the planet except for VZW.

Agreed. I think the Nexus will be the first (and only) goodie we'll get until Nexus 4, and it's a big assumption we'll be getting that.

But let's live in the present! :D

I snuck over to BB on an office errand so I could at least be near phones during my time away from the forum. Phones=crack, Phandroid = dealer.

+1 on that brother! I'm 99% sure this is a phone that has everything in it for me (and is on Verizon)...We all know something better is always around the corner. I'm living for the here and now not what may or may not be...especially knowing Verizon.

The SD card thing was confirmed by steven (well, steven's source) a few pages back, I'm too lazy too look for it, but it's also in the OP.
Regarding the file syncing thing, you should check out Dropbox, because it seems to do pretty much what you're describing.

I've tried Dropbox. I prefer Pogoplug. It automatically shares every folder I tell it to share, and just in general to me is easier to use. Also I posted that before the confirmed the no SD card . ;)

The cloud is an extreme solution for most users.

*shrug* I don't think so- it's becoming more and more integrated and easy to use, IMO.

There is internal memory that you will be able to store your files on and can access with a USB cable. It is no different than other Android phones, except you can't physically remove SD card.

Except that other Android phones have internal *and* SD cards. The internal memory is fine with me, but I was adressing the people who are annoyed that they can't use their 32 or 64 GB SD cards they've spent a lot of money on. the issue isn't that it's not removable, the issue it's not expandable.

I used to love Windows phones before Android that is...

Same here. :) I had 2 Samsung WinMo phones before I moved to Android.

Edited: In fact that i-760 mentioned above was my first smartphone ever. :) God I was so excited for that thing lol.

I heard this, too. Have we heard anything on whether those buttons completely disappear while browsing or watching movies? Someone said that they don't on the Xoom. If they don't, I'll be very, very disappointed. It would basically be a 4.3" HD screen, like the Vigor/Rezound.

I'll clarify this as a Xoom owner.

When watching movies, the virtual buttons disappear and are brought back with a tap on the screen, but the black bar on the bottom where the virtual buttons are located always remains on the screen. However, the Xoom (and I think all Honeycomb tablets?) have an aspect ratio of 16:10. The tablets are designed to have extra space left over on the bottom when watching videos which is why the area for the buttons always remains. The screen is a little taller than standard 16:9 screens (in landscape) so you always have the standard 16:9 screen space available even with the buttons still there.

I'd be willing to bet that with ICS you will be able to make the buttons completely disappear on smaller screens, especially if they use 16:9 screens.

as far as price goes I hope the unsubsidized price is $700 or less, since im buying outright. but come sept I will be eligible for my 2 year upgrade. can anyone say gsIII?

OK, question for you and whoever else: How do you justify paying $700+ to buy a phone sans contract? Granted, I am not a hardcore techie, people who pay full price and/or get a new phone every 6 months, I just don't get it. I mean, I understand the allure of having the "latest and greatest," but is it really worth paying $1,500-2,000 every two years instead of $2-300?

Heard back from our source...

Regarding the phone being available in store..the short answer is yes. The long answer is "it's complicated"... more in a minute...busy @ work.

It's complicated? It's complicated?!

+1

cookies and milk = a better snack
wine and candles = a better moment
newspaper and coffee = a better morning
galaxy and nexus = ???

I'm hoping for a better super hero.

:)
This is my first post in this thread. I waited all summer for the Galaxy S II to come to Verizon, only to end up disappointed, but that's what lead me to the Nexus Prime, which I think could be "something big".

Not only do I think this is an awesome phone, but I'm also one of the people that believe Galaxy + Nexus COULD be a phone/tablet combination. My thinking is:

  1. The resolution of the NP is overkill for a phone, but it would be perfect for a tablet.
  2. What better way for Google to demonstrate how ICS works on phones and tablets.

I saw an article that appeared here at phandroid.com a couple of weeks ago that talked about this same subject and it got me to thinking. Here's a link to the article and a summary:

Could the Nexus Prime Be Compatible With a

I trust Steven's source up to this point, but didn't you, CK, advocate the possibility of multiple people not having the final version of the device? I completely, 100% believe that the source is trustworthy in what he is telling Steven, I'm just hoping that he had the final prototype and not something 2 versions behind.
Yes sir I did. If they are following Motorolas (which it appears they are) modus operandi then I won't be surprised if there are some changes in specs with the official announcement.

Well I'm a bit bummed by the lack of SD card. Well really bummed but after sitting down and doing my figures provided there is 28GB of storage to play with (after excluding OS partition) I will still have around 10GB of space free after transferring my movies and music across.

I guess this means that I'm still in the game. I could just put my 32GB card in my future Asus transformer 2 to suppress buyers remorse about buying the card months in advance in expectance of the legendary super phone. That and I can't keep going on any longer using this Galaxy 3 Apollo.

As much as I love the idea of Nexus on Verizon, I couldn't bring myself to pay full price for it. No way.

Uh Oh. I hope this isn't the "complication" that Steven is referring to. :(

Unsubsidized Nexus, anyone?

I wasn't interested in the possible docked tab idea, but if it looked like this, I think it would be cool!

Good point about demonstrating ICS on both phone and tablet. I'm not bought into the idea yet, but that does make some sense.

Great first post! :)

Verizon Galaxy Nexus = World Phone [verizon gets it exclusive for some time period]?

or will there be another nexus-device with GSM-support later (and maybe another [/ better] specs)?

I really think this could be "something big" and that something like a phone and tablet combination would "go together like cookies and milk".

I definitely agree with that and the point that a phone/tablet combination would be a good first model for ICS which is supposed to work well on both...

I'm not sure why that rumor got tossed out so quickly, to be honest.
