This is exactly how I feel. 1.2 vs 1.5?? So what? It's still an OMAP4 running a severely lacking GPU, so I'm already let down in this category anyway. 1.2 vs 1.5 is NOT going to make a difference. The architecture and the GPU is what make the difference and it is already a big FAIL in that department.

I have made peace with the fact that I will be purchasing a device with year old specs since it will not be an Exynos 4212 (as long as the UI experience is smooth)..... but I have not made peace with that hideous looking iphone 3G rip off form factor. Please please please samsung... say it aint so!! The leaked video profile pic is SO much more appealing.

The SGX540 running at twice the speed as the ones in the SGS phones is severly lacking? It should be on par with the mali in the Exynos 4210, albeit having to drive a higher resolution. Benchmarks with GPU performance will certainly be worse. But do you care about benchmarks, or real world performance. Gaming may be slightly worse, but every other feature that uses the CPU will be better, by a lot.

You won't see devices actually shipping with the Exynos 4212 until Q2 or more likely Q3 2012.

It's so nice to know there are other people out there as excited/ geeked out as I am.

And to stay on the rumor topic I could care less what the exact processor/battery/size are. In a month my failing OG droid will be retired for a nexus/vigor/razr.

some aspects that are a little weird to me:

1. samsung emblem on the front of the device?
2. only Bluetooth 2.1 and not 3.0 ?
3. No LTE? :(
4. the 'old' onscreen-buttons while we've already seen newer, thinner ones
5. no comment on sd-card-slot? :(

From all these leaked specs i'm getting more and more disappointed

From Brand X Forum:

Google chose this gpu for the benefit of developers, this gpu powered the iphone 4 and is in more handsets than any other gpu. Using the same gpu in the nexus line makes it easier for iphone devs to move to android (and lets face it there are more and better devs in apple's ecosystem because currently thats where the money is). making it easier for devs to switch will improve the quality of applications on android.

Wasn't there also something said that the processor in the GN would be something we haven't seen in a phone in the US? If that's the case wouldn't Google have know about the processor going into the RAZR? And so we are now left to speculate further.

I believe the Razr has a 4430, while the Galaxy Nexus has a 4460...of course, the only difference is supposed to be clock speed (1GHz for the 4430, 1.5GHz for the 4460), but they're set at the same speed...meaning they're the same...

iPhone 4: PowerVr SGX535

OMAP 4460: PowerVr SGX540...

-> stupid argument?

edit: 5 1/2 hours to go and we'll know everything for sure... no more speculations / leaks... THANK GOD!

will repost for the new page

Looking at that pic, could Eric Schmidt have been using the nexus today?

Look at the curve at the top of the phone he's holding not to mention where the on/off button is. I'll be the first to say it, HE HAD THE GALAXY NEXUS AND NONE OF THE BlOGGERS SAW IT!!!!

We already freaked on that. Turns out it's probably a Blackberry Bold 9900.

Don't jump to conclusions right now. Your getting disappointed over something that may not even happen.

You're almost to the finish line. Nothing is concrete yet.

I say let everybody get disappointed and expect nothing, then if it matches your earlier disappointment, it's not surprising and you're not mopey. If it's better than expected, you're happy. If they somehow threw in the Exynos 4212, then your head explodes with excitement.

Let me sort of veer into another topic. Since the processor topic is being beat to death :) Locked bootloaders....

Does anyone think the bootloader will be unlocked if the Nexus hits Verizon?

i still have a hundred more posts to read to catch up, so hoping i'm not duplicating....

with the RAZR, Moto is blaming the locked BL on VZW. convenient, yes; but, it does make some sense. with the saturation of the market with Andy devices, garnering more market share from other Andy customers has a certain cannibalism aspect to it. and, while Andy has obviously made serious inroads into iOS market share, you're not going to sway a ton of people away from iOS - generally, people who have iP's will stick with them.

rather, the easy prey/low hanging fruit here is RIM - they are circling the drain, but still have a substantial market share. but, the long standing attraction to RIM has been the business users, which Moto has been trying to attract for some time now. with the RAZR, i think Moto is clearly targeting the corporate users - touting the encryption features, the webtop, syncing docs, etc. and, in order to back up that promise of business security, i don't think they had any choice but to lock the BL.

when Moto just tweeted that the BL would be locked because of VZW, my initial thought was that VZW could insist on the same thing for the GNEx. but, on further consideration, the target market for the GNex is a different demographic - the Andy enthusiasts. the encryption and security features aren't necessary to attract those types of customers.

so, in the end, i don't think that today's announcement concerning the RAZR BL gives us any indication as to what VZW will do/want done with the GNex BL. could it still come locked?? sure. but, given Google's (and Sammy's) history, i don't think it will be locked.

I live downtown Chattanooga and didn't even lose power in the snowstorm we had in January, but I do have my broken down Rogue that will still get to youtube :), although that's about all it will do.

My parents live in downtown Chattanooga. I visit often to play golf at CGCC and have a steak at Henin's

Ugh, those aren't leaked specs, those are unsubstantiated rumors.
There is a difference.

you're right i'm sitting on an upgrade from my htc inc i passed on the Bionic Because i have a NS4G and it's dope but i want the flag ship to stomp on everything and the galaxy series but i hate it that they will brand it Galaxy Nexus i would prefer Droid Nexus

ummm... no. 4212 has been said multiple times in articles that it will ship in devices as early as the very end of 2011 (not likely) and definitely in Q1 2012. The SGSIII is already spec'd to have an overclocked 4212 (1.8ghz vs 1.5ghz) or the exynos 5250. If they follow the same release time as the SGSII, it will be released in Q2 2012. Why would they bypass the 1.5ghz 4212 altogether? makes no sense. Wiki for the exynos procs states the SGSII HD LTE will have the exynos 4212 which certainly is not shipping any later than Q1 2012.

1. You're right! The Japanese poster does NOT have a Samsung logo on it... One of them has to be fake, or maybe it's region-specific
3. The i-9250 was the GSM version that has definitely been through FCC without LTE.
5. The 16/32 GB part could be referring to on-board versus SD card. Or as someone else already said, two different sized versions available. If there's a 16 GB version, it BETTER not be the one that's $299 subbed.

Geez I wish I were in Maine or something close to the Eastern seaboard... their Verizon stores open an hour before ours do and they get this baby first! :(

Oh well, at least I'll have MY new toy 2 hours before those left coast folks get theirs LOL

Welcome to the forums, SharpDressed! Glad to have you for the party!
