Here is an open question: What are the minimum specs that would still make you want this phone? I understand everyone wants more, but where is the low end bar set.

As long as the phone looks cool, fits in my pocket, and has Ice Cream Sandwich, it is good enough for me.

You don't need the fastest specs when ICS has native hardware acceleration in the UI. As long as the specs are good enough, it will be the smoothest Android phone out there.

It's this same thought that the GNex will have a 2nd gen 4G radio, and will be similarly very thin. So in summary, I don't think there are any technical issues, just the realities of what's available, what pricing they get, and what level of performance they are aiming to achieve.

Assuming that the Nexus does have a small 2nd-gen LTE radio, why couldn't it be used with the Exynos instead of the TI OMAP? Generally, "what's available" is determined by the presence of technical issues, so I'm not sure how you can draw a line there.

Good question. If apps are developed on a GNex/ICS, won't they run better on a GNex going forward because they're optimized for that device? Maybe that's not true because the apps are designed for ICS more so than the hardware.

Anyone know how that works?

The event will be broadcast live on this channel?
All i see there now is a older video about ICS ????

sorry for being the post whore here but......

Good point. How does youtube streaming work for this? Does a new video just show up at the top of the list which waits for the streaming time?

OK, here's our list of questions for Rob - we did our best!

HI Rob,

We got this gother asap.

1. phone questions we're not sure will be covered in event or not:

"Is the verizon-version also the GSM-version?"
"Are the gsm-version's specs equal to the CDMA-version's ?"
"How about the exynos 4212? "
"How about the OMAP 4470?"
"How about the battery?"
"no microSD-Card-Slot?"
"SuperAmoled (Pentile) or SuperAmoled+ (RGB-Stripes)?"
"5MP or 8MP Camera?"
Will the Nexus come with dedicated car & desk docks?
Will it be subsidized on Verizon?
Will the bootloader be unlocked?
the GPU of the Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus (how is the gaming experience in complex 3d-games?)
the lack of a sd-card-slot (is there really no microSD-Card-Slot? :O)
LTE-capable (or is it just HSPA+ ?, and if so 21 or 42?)
What is call quality, reception, gps like. What SoC is in it.
Cost of the phone. - Will VZN subsidize it?
metal or plastic? Curved or straight?
Screen: SuperAmoled+ or what? Pentile or not?
Battery size? Screen size? Actual Phone size?
Official release date.
Inductive charging support?
Inductive Charging docks?
Unlocked price and availability
Does it have a notification LED? If so is it multi-colored?
Is the screen Gorilla Glass?
Will it be available for pre-order?
Price on and off contract?
How will the screen perform in sunlight?
Does it support Android Open Appliance connections?
Does it have NFC?

================================

2. international/us carrier questions:

"Is the world-version LTE capable?"
"Release of the world-version [e.g. in germany? ]?"
"Price for the world version (in €, e.g. for germany )?"
"Are there gonna be different world-versions as it was with the Nexus S? [sAmoled -> SLCD]"
availability in Australia and which network
availability in Canada and which network
availability in the UK and which network

================================

3. ICS questions we're not sure will be covered in event or not:

How fast can it take photos?
How many home screens are available?
"Photo Quality? Video Quality?"
Will ICS be open-source?
Battery life- will ICS help this.
When in landscape mode, do the bottom icons rotate with it and take up how much space?
ICS features? Why is it better than Gingerbread?
Will updates (Jellybean) have to be approved by Verizon before release?
Google Wallet pre installed?
No VZW bloat (ISIS, Payfone, VZW Nav, etc)?
Docks (car/home)?

Sorry I couldn't get this out earlier - I want to credit our guide archoille for the help in compiling this.

Have a blast!

Best,
EarlyMon

I don't want minimum specs, personally. Don't forget, guys, we're on the irc channel. Go to the OP for directions on how to get there. :D

Is there anyone else that is concerned about Steven's source? I mean if these "leaked" specs are true then Steven's source was really not a source at all. Just sayin'

Edit: and I personally would feel bad for Steven since he's been the link between him/her and all of us. And we all know how we are.

Steven's got a good track record. I'm inclined to put my money on him. If any of his information is wrong, it's certainly not because he didn't believe it.

Not necessarily. Developers are going to develop apps that target the widest range of devices possible.

If another phone has a better GPU, they will likely play 3D games better, but the Galaxy Nexus will have the best performance for web browsing and 2D UI because of ICS. It should be as smooth as the iPhone.

I'm sure all the really credible leaks have all been real, even the contradicting one.

So... you believe all of the leaks that you find believable. Okay me too! :D

I don't think many developers will create apps that require ICS until a plurality of phones in user hands are running ICS. Until then, they'll develop apps that can take advantage of many ICS features but will run fine on previous phones going back to some minimum level (probably Froyo or GB for now).

There are also software emulators that run on PCs and can simulate the behavior of different environments. So a developer could write apps to run on an ICS device w/o even having such a device. (But, there's nothing quite like testing on actual shipping hardware).
