any word on if VZW gets the OMAP GN, everyone else gets an upgraded exynos later this year/Q1 2012?

they did do something like this with the GSII (exynos vs tegraII)

I was starting to cool off on the hardware with the specs over the past day or so, but ICS sucked me back in. I'd love to have the latest and greatest screaming hardware, but it's all for not if the user experience isn't there. Glad to see they incorporated the ability to dismiss individual notifications, and in a much cleaner way than clicking an X or holding down to prompt an action. The "flicking away" feature is pretty damn cool! From what they previewed, I'd say Google scored with ICS. It makes some of the not-so-cutting-edge hardware aspects a non-factor. Suffice to say, I've gone from "wait and see" back to "pre-order". Excellent job, Google!

Biggest question mark for me still is battery. How energy efficient is the S-AMOLED display? How much does that eat compared to a 4G radio? Etc etc.

Honestly way more impressed by the ICS presentation than the hardware, but yeah... looks like I'll be putting my dollar down on GNex.

I have bad feelings about that new beam feature, stealing datas by reversing the function...

Unless you habitually touch your phone to other people's phones, then no. NFC chip does not have the power to broadcast over any real range.

And all the chat people come flooding back in here, just to see we're on our way to 13,000 posts LOL

Verizon is bound to announce SOON... Samsung' webpage says Verizon, and I'm STILL believing November 3rd...

Agreed, but VZW so far has never gotten the higher end option of any Sammy device. If there is a 16gb and 32gb version, odds are they will take the 16gb version, which means about 10gb of space for apps and media.

No problem for cloud or Kindle Fire fans. Added: Sorry, the fixed battery and potential chipset deception of the Razr has me ticked off. I mean no harm :)

Both devices have good and bad points, but as usual, neither device covers my main wants. Oh well.

5mp camera WTF

This is one amazing camera and will most likely smoke any existing 8MP phone camera in terms of photo quality, not to mention the zero lag!

Megapixels don't give you anything besides the ability to make large prints, which most people don't do.

i BELIEVE NFC is only activated when it detects another chip nearby...

How would it know there's another chip nearby if it isn't already activated?

Thinking about what we just saw I think I would sum it up like this:

ICS is Awesome...

and we don't really now any more specifics about the phone hardware or release date than we did yesterday:o

ALright everyone time for bed 4am comes to quick. Hopefully Rob will have a lot of our questions answered by the time I sit down at my desk with some coffee in my hand in the morning :D NIGHT!

The same way a normal RFID tag works.. they dont really use power until introduced to a magnetic/EM field

Generally chips like that can have a polling detector that can power on/off the main chip. It is possible, although I do not have the knowledge to say much else.
