Android 4.0 features

Sorry if this is a noob question but i am an android noob....why has it gone from 2.3.x to 4.0 ? Isn't there going to be a 3.x for phones ?

android 3.x was the separate android tablet OS, Honeycomb.. the mobile phone and tablet OS's are now merged together in android 4.0 ice cream sandwich :)

Technically and theoretically your are correct in what you say but this is not necessarily the case.

Example

Flashing a rooted kernel voids the warrant does it not? So rooting in order to back up the /efs folder is already voiding the warranty.

I guess you're trying to say it is possible to still get the device repaired, but it seems like a gamble.

Let me ask something about the android 4.0:
i see it has the home back and menu buttons on the screen, which is good for the nexus prime because it has no buttons, but the galaxy s 2 has those buttons already, so do you think that if we get the update - will those buttons be there and take a bit of our screen, or will they be gone?

im new to android - a month or so, and i never seen an update this big, so i don't know what to expect.
Thanks

those buttons wont be gone ;)

and btw as an update to Nexus spec, photo of it

Don`t worry, i had few smartphones in my life and i rooted all of them and never had to send it to service and wonder how much repair will cost as i had no guarantee. You have to be really unlucky or not careful with what you doing if u bring your phone to a moment when there is no help for it apart from service... ;) but as i said many times it`s up to you. just remind you that after rooting real fun starts with sgs2 as you can set everything as You want, not your carrier ;)

I rooted my Desire around midway through my contract and I'll probably do the same with the SGS2.. not going to do it at the start of my contract (despite considering it!!) :p
