Mugen Power 1800mAh review

Just pulled the trigger on ordering one. I usually have to plug my phone in late afternoon to make it through the day. A 20% increase sounds good to me. The coupon code of 5OFF2009 still works for another $1.70 off.

Congrats Mate, I think you made a wise decision. Its now after 4pm and I have had Pandora playing all day long plus my normal business calls and activities and I still show 40% reserves. Not to mention I have Imap doing an update every 5 mins and GPS and WiFi running ust to help use up the battery so I can plug it in soon after I arrive home for Happy Hour. lol

I am still cycling the battery, last full depleation and recharge tonite. Then its charge at will as per Mugen's instructions.

Have Fun!!

The Mugen is 50 mAh larger at 1800 vs 1750. It is also cheaper at $34 vs $50. It is the same physical size as the stock battery.

So, same physical size, larger capacity, and cheaper? I'll take one.

Ah, I didn't know if it was the same size. I just wish it didn't ship from Hong Kong!

I placed my Mugen order on a Thursday with a credit card, battery arrived 9 days later on Saturday.

It is worth the wait.

I've got an update. Since there are so many positive reviews, I'm starting to think I've got a bad battery. I've now gone through 3 charging cycles, and the 4th is going now. Almost on the hour for all 3 charging cycles fo far, the 15% warning comes up at 14 hrs after being unplugged. And I don't think another 2 charging cycles is going to suddenly double the battery length. This is horrible even compared to the stock battery. I'm not a heavy user on the phone by any means and I was getting 22-24 hrs when it hit 15% on the stock battery. Has anyone had to return there's yet and know what's involved? I'm highly tempted to try this 2000mAh one now if it's only $10.

Can't say anything of help in regard to returns of defective products with Mugen, however, it will probably be a nightmare.

If you do try the 2000, please give us a review. I may purchase it for my wife's Hero.

Thanks....

Well I may have to eat my words. After my 4th charge. I hit 15% at exactly 24 hrs. The last couple days I've had more intense usage, but I think after the 5th charge my battery lasted about 16 hrs and what was with having had a 1-1.5 hr phone call. Yesterday I was only able to charge till 95% before unplugging because I had to leave the house. That was at 5pm. I hit 15% at 10:15 this morning. And that was after about a 45 min phone conversation (17 hrs).

So I'm still kind of getting some sporadic time. I'm really looking to be able to talk for about the usual hour a day that I do and have it go at least 24 hrs inbetween charges. I rarely use the phone otherwise. I don't think that's too much to ask, even for the stock battery.

I can't remember where I read it on one of these extended battery forums, but someone said the extended battery they were using was not getting that much operating time before needing to be charged until they somehow went in and cleared the battery memory/profile on the phone? They said the phone is looking at and treating the battery as if the original one is still there, which affects the performance. Anyone know about how to go about doing this. I think the person said after the did this, they were getting close to 48 hrs in between charges.

Edit: I found what I was talking on over at the XDA Mugen battery thread - "I came across something that seems to have helped.. I did a full recharge and while at 100% I booted into Restore and Wiped the Battery Memory. Now it seems to reflect a more true battery percentage."

Can anyone tell me how to do this. I'm rooted and running fresh 1.1. Thanks

He means boot into Recovery -> Wipe -> Battery History.

Booting into recovery, is that where I load customs roms and stuff? What do I hold down again as the phone is starting. Also, one of the choices is "Wipe" and when this is selected, one of the choices is "battery history?" And this will only wipe the battery history, or is he talking about doing a full wipe of the system?

Turn off the phone, hold the "volume down" button, and press the red power button while holding down the volume button. You can then select recovery mode and follow the options I posted above. As an alternative, you can use the QuickBoot app to boot straight to recovery. You have to be rooted for either way to work.

lol, took only 7 days for mine to arrive, its worth the wait provided you don't have a ton of apps running in the background chewin up your battery by keepin your phone awake.
