Hey guys this is my first root and I think i may have f-d my phone because it's stuck in boot loop. I followed the rooting for dummies guide: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html I got the phone rooted and moved on to life after root. installed titanium backup I then did the switching revoeries and (being the noob i am) thought i did this step right when now i reliezed I never did the update. But needless to say I moved to flashing, then flashed the ZZZVR_SUPERWIPE.zip. after i flashed it i realized i needed to make a nandroid so i made one....erhmm two actually. and tried rebooting, now i'm stuck in boot loop... any suggestions?

It sounds to me like you wiped everything you were saving in the nandroids, pretty good chance there is nothing in them.

all is not lost. seems to be time to actually pick a rom and flash it and get your phone working again.

what is a good first time rom?

to stop the bootloop, just pull the battery. put it back in and boot to recovery by holding down volume and then the power button together.

so if you go to the gingerbread for dummies thread, look at flashing section.

You will need a rom, so go to rom and kernel sticky and pick a rom, how about this one to start out with. Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

in recovery, click on usb ms toggle and hook up your cable and put that file on root of your card, not in any folder.

I am assuming, could be wrong, let me know. when you do boot in to recovery, do you have amon ra recovery?

that is the one i am familiar with. all the stuff i have been telling you is based upon that. so let me know, ok?

even if I just press the power button it puts me into recovery. i'm guessing any one of those downloads works as a rom?

you'll have to help me (Noob..) amon ra recovery? i'm downloading the Mik3D-B1-Signed.zip and another Energy_10.5.2011.Evo4g.zip

that would be the amon ra one, just want to make sure you got it. say RA-supersonic at the bottom?

so you understand about using usb-ms toggle with usb cable and pc to put dl onto your sd card in root? then hit usb ms toggle again and unplug usb.

once you get it on there, to be safe, choose install zip and flash the superwipe again a couple of times. then choose wipe and wipe cache, dalvik cache and data a few times each

Then, choose zip again and pick the rom you just dl'd, hit power to select and then again to confirm it, then take you a break for a while. Just leave it alone for a while. it takes a while and is nerve wracking the first time. be patient!

so far so good. i know first boot takes the longest. haven't made it to homescreen but have made it farther... thank you i'm not in boot loop anymore!

so you got a phone again, I am assuming? :D

edit: Well, I hope you do. now is nandroid time, you can do it again after you get it all tricked out too, but if you do it right a first, it is good to go in case you screw something up setting it up. that never happens of course... :)

a tip I think i read from andygu, but in here anyway, was to make a nan where you JUST choose wimax keys too once, and save it in various safe places.
