So Ice Cream Sandwich is really just what English ice cream vans call "wafers"? Who knew?!

The source code will be released "soon": Ice Cream Sandwich source code will be available soon; Get ready for ROMs! | Android and Me

Made public in a post on the Android Building Google Groups page, developer Dan Morrill mentioned that Google will “release the source for the recently-announced Ice Cream Sandwich soon, once it’s available on devices.” Last night, Google released the SDK for Ice Cream Sandwich, but was mum on when the source code would be released. As a result, developers felt left down and abandoned once again. The news that Google will release the source along with the Galaxy Nexus in November comes as great news. Before you know it, developers will be beating manufacturers to the punch once again, putting Ice Cream Sandwich on any and every device possible.

I never bothered with Gingerbread as it didn't seem to be enough of change over Froyo, plus I didn't want to give up Sense (when GB first came out).

I wonder if ICS is polished enough that I wouldn't miss Sense?

was that like a limited edition magnum? like their 7 sins editions etc because I've never seen that....normal magnum is niiiiiiice though :D

and I don't care this is off topic...tis my thread lol...don't so much fancy a true ice cream sandwich right now, I currently have a large chocolate and vanilla cheesecake in front of me...nom!

maybe that can be 4.2 or something....Android Cheesecake! :D

I know I know...there IS an order to their desert based versions....BUT...you cannot ignore the power of the Chomp!

plus!...I think think I just got too caught up in food talk..and chocolate...and then Chomps sprang to mind.....I get sidetracked too easily when it comes to food lol

what normal magnum or chocolate cheesecake? lol

OH and before the mods get pissy thinking that this should be in general cos its all food talk.

I was reading earlier I believe on the phandroid app in news that they have a partial working SDK now on the original nexus one...

so its getting there :D

there.....now back to food talk! haha...I jest..

I will say one thing though for ICS is that I think that unlock phone with your face is a little bit redundant and just gimmicky and I'm glad that once (not 'if' due to the devs working on desire still) we get a ROM with ICS on, we don't have the forward face camera so wont even have this option :D

an yes yes, I know you can opt to NOT use it...but I'd rather not have a gimmick thing in the first place lol

I agree about Face Lock. It's even more gimmicky than Siri which at least has a few useful, practical applications like in car mode, for example.

They should have trumpeted NFC a bit more.

I will say one thing that makes me want ICS but I don't know if the feature will work with the Desire or not due to power issues...is the USB Hosting..

Can anyone confirm that the power output on the micro usb is enough maybe to power any kind of USB device such as micro USB stick for example..

Should do. We have custom kernels now that allow host mode on the desire. Only pain is you have to reboot to switch modes
