Help No sound during call?

So, today as I was rushing to get on the train after school I needed to make a phone call that would determine what train I would take. Of course, since it was time sensitive my droid decided not to make our receive calls. I would dial the number and hear nothing but silence even tho the call had connected. The party on the other end was getting the call but we could not hear each other.only silence. I had to reboot twice at which point I had a number of voice mails from the person i was calling trying to see what was happening. My phone is not rooted and I just have some basic popular apps. Is this just an occasional smart phone glitch or have others had this happen?
 
I had this same problem pull the battery, post if that fixes. Verizon told me to pull the bat, and i did and it worked, they also told me it was because I had to many apps running.:D
 
Were you recently using the 3.5mm jack? There is a confirmed software/hardware bug where the audio occaisionally does not switch back to the droid's internal mic after a headset is unplugged from the droid.

Actually, yes I was using Pandora with headphones prior to making the call. I wasn't aware of this bug so that's good to know. And yes, I did have to pull the battery in order to fix the problem.

This has got me wondering, is their a way to get the 3.5mm jack to work as a microphone AND headphone jack like the iPhone? Basically just allowing you to get a pair of headphones that have a microphone so you can answer calls without having to take off the headphone.
 
I've had this happen soooo many times I can't count. Not using a headset or anything for the call...just the phone.

I have noticed a trend that when playing music (whether on the device or streaming) I will have this problem on the next call when I unplug the headset. Happens about 50% of the time. I'm not sure if the media player or the Droid Live app keeps something open. ??

The battery pull fixes it..but it is really annoying especially since I have the Body Glove case and it takes a hammer and other misc tools to get it off. ;)

As I mentioned above, this is a known bug. It is usually fixed by restarting the phone and occaisionally needs a battery-pull. Some have reported that it fixes itself if you plug the headphones back in and unplug them. The few times that it has happened to me I have at least been able to hit the speakerphone and use that.
 
I am a Pandora junkie, and this happens to me allllll the time. One thing that works for me, if someone is calling while I have it plugged in still, I will answer the phone, let them say a few words, then unplug it. It seems to work fine as long as I do it in that order. If I unplug before I answer, then it is almost always going to be silent. As far as for if no one is calling and I am getting out of my car or something, I will just unplug it in the middle of the song and let pandora close itself.

I had this happen constantly on my droid until I had I replaced. Had to reboot daily. New one hasn't done it yet. Seems to be worse on some handsets.

This is also what I do, and it's worked every single time.

Also worth noting, I was having trouble at one time hitting the "add call" prompt. It acted like the phone was muted, but of course, turning it on and off didn't work. Turned out that was the culprit.

I love the Droid, but it def comes w/ a learning curve.
 
I have a Nexus One. I had similar problems whenever anything was plugged into the 3.5mm jack and I unplugged anything the 3.5mm input, whether I was receiving a call or not. After unplugging, there was no audio coming through the headset's internal speaker for calls or when I tried to play music. It didn't matter whether it was headphones or my stereo monitors at home. Unplugging the Nexus with this bug was particularly problematic as the headset would not ring for calls. I initially discovered that I could just toggle between sound off and sound on and this generally took care of the issue. But not wanting to have to take this extra step every time I unplugged, I tried the battery pull since rebooting wasn't really helping me.

It worked. I can now plug and unplug and the Nexus switches reroutes audio from the 3.5mm jack to the handset's speakers. Anyone know why pulling the battery fixes this (at least, temporarily)?
 
For me this problem has manifested itself as an inability to hear anything when placing calls. I don't think it has to do with the headphone jack or listening to music because I rarely do that. I'll make a call. See the time counting up, indicating the call has gone through, I talk, the other party can hear me, but I can't hear them. Think the speakerphone button would help me?

I was having this problem too with my Nexus One. My problem specifically was I could hear others but the internal mic was not working on my end so they could not hear me. I noticed that the Pandora app was buggy (widget inexplicably disappearing, force close, etc) so I uninstalled Pandora. Two days now and I have not had any problems so far.
Wondering if it could be Pandora that was causing all the trouble in the first place...
 
Today I lost the ability to hear other party when I'm on the phone although they hear me. I have never used the jack. The only app I was using was "Words with Friends."

I turned off my phone several times and even pulled the battery. Nothing seems to help.
