Have you taken a peek at "mailwidget." It is ugly and not as functional as your widget but it is able to access K-9. It might give you a better way to go.
I know.
But it's not only ugly, but it's also a very dirty code (I had a look at it).
But I'll may propose my services to port my provider to K9... I'll think about it.
. Oh well at least I get my personal messages (gmail and sms) in one place. Work emails would be nice but not a deal breaker. Your apps still kick ass IMO
